Turnoar
Drifting slightly off thread but I can recall my car clutch failing about 20 years ago and explaining to the breakdown co that I thought the cable had snapped. Turned out it was a hydraulic clutch and a temporary crimp round the leaking pipe and then some oil topping up got it to the garage. Previously, on reflection, cables didn't seem to fail me, rather the car bulkhead rusted a bit and the cable contributed and sawed through it with a similar outcome! grendel
I had a cable seize, and managed to bend the clutch pedal, that was a 50 mile trip home with no clutch.

I remember the days of an old mk1 escort, the plastic nut on the gearstick gave up as the clutch cable snapped, had to drive from Bedford Town centre to st.neots with no clutch and a screwdriver in the hole trying to remember everything worked opposite like that, did well considering. QuarAmar
Coincidentally the Mk1 Escort is a similar vintage to the Wilds Calypso and it looks likely that electric motors, hydraulics and possibly even batteries from a forklift may meet needs for an alternative power source. Any thoughts/experience from using forklift motors in boating would be welcome?

And their batteries are quite large you may struggle for battery space
