Chris I would fill up at Boulters sat, if near, if you pay £1.90 there and the yard charges £2.10. That's 20p profit for you out of the fuel deposit, no problem because they would not supply the requested info.

Well it appears i was unnecessarily concerned. Our holiday is over and we now have the hassle of travelling back home. We have negotiated trains, tubes, and taxis and are now sat knackered in a rather gloomy hotel room a short ride from Heathrow terminal 2.

Our boat handover went very smoothly. We used in total 67.4 litres of diesel and was refunded just over £35. Our pootling approach seemed to serve us well. The lady at the next desk along had used £220 worth, so not a lot of pootling there, i am thinking.

It was a mission and a half to get here, but i have to say it was worth it. We do have a boat booked for next year, so if i can make the numbers work, and flight costs do not keep increasing, we may be back.

Read a post on FB a couple of days ago from someone who’d had a week on a hire boat, paid £200 fuel deposit and had to pay a further £175 when he returned it.  He asked if that was normal?

Now I pootle along at 4 mph pretty much everywhere, mainly due to a/ im tight and b/ she seems comfortable at 1500 revs. 
But now I feel less guilty about leading a train from Great Yarmouth to Acle.
