Our Anniversary Weekend

Last Sunday was our 40th wedding anniversary. My cousins Sandra (who was my bridesmaid) and Chris and Chris' wife Barbara came down to help us celebrate and my school friend Sharon (another bridesmaid) also joined us.

On Saturday we visited Althorp House, which I'd never visited despite living in a neighbouring County. It's only open for a couple of months each year. It's obvious that many people visit it because of Diana, as there were several bouquets that had been left on the bench of her memorial.

This is the island where she was buried.

Sunday morning we renewed our wedding vows in church, surrounded by our friends in the congregation. Our lovely Rev Dr Sam (he's our GP as well as our priest) was so warm, it was a very special service. They gave us two bouquets of lovely roses and had organised a 'breakfast' after the service. We also cut the cake that Barbara had made and which Sandra had beautifully decorated.

Late afternoon we had afternoon tea at the Woburn Coffee House. It was the best. The only thing is that no afternoon tea will ever come near it. It didn't feature one sandwich. We had a couple of tiers of various savouries and then three tiers of sweet items. The vegetarians in our party were also well catered for, as was my friend's 'no chocolate and no cheese' dietary requirement.
