Wild Mooring With Mudweights

Hi All

Hoping to return this year after a few years away. Just wondering the favoured spots for wild mooring using mudweights and are there any no-go areas to know about, we will be on the northern broads, likely hiring from Richardsons as long as we can get under Ludham bridge. Thanks all in advance, I appreciate your help and advice always.

Good places to mud weight on the Northern rivers are :-

South Walsham Broad , Salhouse Broad , Barton Broard ,Womack water , Malthouse Broard

Bridge Broad if you can get through Wroxham bridge.
Also that little inlet on the right angled bend down Fleet dyke (on the right going down towards the Broad, before you get to the EA ‘bend’ moorings.

I'd also add Wroxham Broad and Hoveton Little Broad.

I would be careful in Hoveton Little Broad, last year the weeds were horrendous and tangled our prop.

I would avoid Hoveton Little Broad too due to the weed. It will probably be okay early in the season, but last year the warm summer encouraging weed growth meant that the sailing club stopped using it.

Hoveton Little Broad re opens at the end of May Bank Holiday. It was nowhere near as bad last year compared to 2022. Sailing on the broad resumed at the end of July.

Salhouse Broad. You can't beat it for mud weighting, sitting on the deck and watching the boats coming in an out, the big trip boat doing it's rounds and watching families having fun on the moorings while you're hoping the ice cream boat will turn up.

If they had a wine boat, I'd stay there the ruddy week 

Hire a dingy and go for a row at sunset, absolutely stunning
