I sincerely hope Alan you were NOT trying to catch Oor Nessie on the Caley Canal. What would out Scottish Tourist Industry have done?

Probably retired to Campbeltown Loch and tried to "drink it dry" !

But what if the boat should overturn

And drowned in the Loch was I?

You'd hear me shout, you'd hear me call out

"What a wonderful way to die !"

Chorus:

Oh! Campbeltown Loch, Ah wish ye were whisky!

    Campbeltown Loch, Och Aye!

Campbeltown Loch, I wish ye were whisky!

    Ah wid drink ye dry.

Hi Scott,

It is very interesting traveling down loch Ness. It can be like a mill pond or so rough that everyone aboard feels ill.
Because of the depth of the loch there can be rogue currents that seem to follow the passage of the boat or could it be Nessie? who knows? All I can say it can be very eerie. Fish2

Alan

Hi Alan, I don't know if you are aware, but they say if you fall in Loch Ness at the deepest point, even in Summer you have maximum of three minutes to get out of the water before you drowned. The depth of Loch Ness is staggering!

My brother in laws wife was seasick when they did the Cally Canal many years ago.

Hi Iain,

I knew it was deep and little under 23 miles long and quite wide at its widest point and deeper than the continental shelf.

Here are the statistics:-

Max. length 22.6 mi (36.3 km)

Max. width 1.7 mi (2.7 km)

Surface area 21.8 sq mi (56.4 km2)

Average depth 433 ft (132 m)

Max. depth 744.6 ft (226.96 m)

Water volume 1.8 cu mi (7.4 km3)

Surface elevation 52 ft (15.8 m)

After saying that Loch Lommond is the bigest loch by surface area but not by volume.

Regards

Alan

A BIG thank you to all the lovely messages, the shops doing well with more stock to arrive very soon. As for fishing hire they do that next door in the fishing tackle shop but not the licence have to get them fro the Post Office or on line.

looking forward to meeting you all soon.

Fishing up date. None! Not seen any fish court in Womack waters for a few weeks, too much salt water, should start returning to normal soon with a bit of luck.
