teadaemon
For 3 Geoff, bring hire yards back to Oulton Broad. Iain. Slip me a million quid or so, and I'll happily run a hire yard on Oulton Broad (or indeed any other location on the Broads), but don't expect a massive return on your investment. Very true, but when you are getting on a bit and remember the yards that used to be there, its very sad IMHO that there are none now. There were six that I can think of when I first cruised the Broads. Iain.
Rincewind
I found my old 1982 Hoseasons Broads & Holiday map yesterday and it was something of a reality-check to be reminded of just how many yards there were at that time but have since moved on. Lots of missing hostelries too.
Rincewind
If I did have three wishes for Oulton Broad... One of them would be to have Jim Toplis back with us. Such a gentleman and greatly missed.
BroadScot
For me it was Bob, the Harbourmaster with the tash, lovely man, always helpful to any hirer coming into the YS. Iain.
ExUserGone
It would be very easy to make a small fortune with a hire yard on oulton broad, start with a large fortune and relax while you watch it shrivel.....

Timbo
I noticed the other day just how many boatyards used to be on the Southern Broads. I started putting in little burgees on the map for each boat yard...Oulton Broad and Brundall started to look like the site of Custer's Last Stand with all the little lances!
