macroft1
Hi there. Can anyone tell me how to tie fenders on? Thanks and regards. Mark.
ranworthbreeze
Hi Mark,You can buy fender clips that fit onto pulpit rails if you have them or if using eyes:-Brian Ward's (remember the NBN forums 10% discount)http://www.brianwards.co.uk/chandlery/fenders/fastfender-25-white-1pr.htmlhttp://www.brianwards.co.uk/chandlery/ropes-and-rigging/snap-hook-pk2.htmlOf course you can do what most people do and use a clove hitch.http://www.animatedknots.com/cloveend/The beauty of the clove hitch is that it is easy to adjust it for the rise & fall of the fenders.RegardsAlan
Hockham Admiral
Mark, Hi. Try this: http://www.netknots.com/rope_knots/
macroft1
Thanks for the replies. I'm tying them to eyes and was thinking about a half blood knot. Regards. Mark.
Bound2Please
Thanks for the replies. I'm tying them to eyes and was thinking about a half blood knot. Regards. Mark. Clove hitch is far better than a half bood, as half bloods dont hold to well on rope.

Viking23
For the fender end, home splice a small eye on one end, seal the other free end with a cigarette lighter and roll between two very wet fingers ( risk of burning finger tips, so be warned !) to seal the end, then thread the free end through the fender eye, through the spliced eye, tighten, then tie off on the deck eyes, with three half hitches. I have never lost a fender this way, but without the lower eye splice they often fell off.
LondonRascal
Talking of Fenders, once you have them secured you will want to keep them looking their best. Having removed all Broad Ambition's fenders while on the hard at the weekend, and a though scrubbing - what has restored them once more to their subtle and gleaming look is some Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care. For under £6.00 (Link to buy) it is well worth the money, we also treated the new Vinyl wheelhouse canopy with it too.

MauriceMynah
"That's exactly how we attach ourselves." Works quite well John, but I think you'll find attaching fenders instead gives better hull protection. Think I'd better start running!
