  1. So do we, David, so do we! But we've found that it takes more than a spot of rain to put Forumites off!!!
  2. Just a proposal at the moment but I'm hoping to organise a Summer Meet at Beccles on 21st July. It would follow the format of last year's but hopefully not the weather! (Not that anything seems to stop us having a great time!) That was bring your own food and share the barbies that those who have them bring... and there were plenty even in the torrential weather we had! (Under gazebos) All will be welcome! Watch this space for when I've talked to the HM there tomorrow!
  3. Well, Gav, the sun was over the yardarm when you left and we did wave to you from Broadview!!
  4. And Here's how it looked on the floating pontoon yesterday, Escape and Black Diamond side-on behind the rest of us. That's F-G and HJ3 hidden behind Job Done and Jasperoo squeezed in between J-D and Alex's Star!
  5. Claire nearly broke mine with that half tumblerful of Navy Rum late at night after a day's beers!
  6. It was a bit of a 3-2-1, wasn't it Wayne? Completely agree with your sentiments and it was really good to meet the Reeves at last, what a super family! As we've not heard anything about a Summer Meet yet I'll probably sort something out unofficially for the first weekend of the Summer School Hols. Watch this (or probably another!) space! (Hopefully 21st July at Beccles)
  7. Indeed there were! The old lags didn't give up until 03.30 this morning........
  8. Balti Raj did over 30 of us proud last night and the more hardy retired downstairs to Broadview for the rest of the night and into this morning... Hopefully Gav's pics will find their way here when he resurfaces!
  9. With those tides Sat 21 Jul 2012 bst 09:28 08:58 08:28 07:28 05:58 06:58 5:00 21:01 21:58 21:28 20:58 19:58 18:28 19:28 Sun 22 Jul 2012 bst 10:06 09:36 09:06 08:06 06:36 07:36 5:01 21:00 22:37 22:07 21:37 20:37 19:07 20:07 Mon 23 Jul 2012 bst 10:44 10:14 09:44 08:44 07:14 08:14 5:02 20:58 You could leave Acle at 05.15 on Sunday morning and be through GH at slack water about 07.14. Then it would be about 3 hours to the Beauchamp Arms. Alternatively (and I would do this) you could go straight through GH at 19.30 on Sat and on to the Berney Arms for the night (sunset 21.00). We will be about the Yare that week so pls keep us posted!
  10. Julz and Jim Hi. We've had a jolly good try over the last two days and nights!
  11. It's a beautiful sunny morning and 10 boats are here, 2 more to arrive later this morning... it has the makings of a great hangover........... Escape and Black Diamond side-on behind
  12. I agree with David, 'cos from the land the mole on the left and the wind-turbines on the right-hand mole would fit in well.
  13. Well, Neil and we have had our ups and downs over the years and we know that he likes to call a spade an effin' shovel.............. but, I don't know which particular shovel has dug his grave. I do know that the Mods confer frequently over contentious issues and I'd be only too happy to hear just which of them Neil has finally breached? I sincerely hope we are not becoming too PC on our Forum.
  14. They will be in Flora's tea rooms on Friday, 4th May, when Steve and us are meeting them.
  15. Mark, Hi Can't be any worse than the Beccles Meet last Year! And some have arrived today. Great time in the Red Herring at lunchtime (hic!)
  16. And Boulters charged me £1.15/L this morning.............. needless to say, I filled up!
  17. Here's how you can work it out.. Charging Duty and VAT The following is a guide to the calculation of duty and VAT under the new arrangements for illustration only. The proportion split between propulsion and domestic usage will vary. VAT is charged at the reduced rate of 5% on fuel for propulsion and domestic use. This example assumes a 60% (propulsion) and 40% (domestic) split for a purchase of 100 litres of red diesel (the price of diesel is assumed to be 0.70ppl which includes 9.69 ppl duty already paid to fuel supplier): Propulsion calculation (ie 60 per cent) 60 litres @ 0.70ppl = £42 60 litres @ 0.4066 = £24.40 (additional duty) VAT @ 5% = £3.32 Propulsion Total = £69.72 Domestic calculation (ie 40 per cent) 40 litres @ 0.70ppl = £28 VAT @ 5% = £1.40 Domestic Total = £29.40 Transaction Total = £99.12 Definition of Private Pleasure Craft The definition of 'private pleasure craft' is as in the Energy Products Directive: ‘private pleasure craft shall mean any craft used by its owner or the natural or legal person who enjoys its use either though hire or through any other means, for other than commercial purposes and in particular other than for the carriage of passengers or goods or for the supply of services for consideration or for the purposes of public authorities.’ All forms will be available on our website http://www.hmrc.gov.uk or from the National Advice Service on 0845 010 9000 That's directly from the RBOA http://www.rboa.org.uk/diesel4
  18. Now that's my idea of a real Broads Cruiser, Clive! I wonder if you would be able to give us an idea of retail cost if someone wanted you to build one for them?
  19. Clive, I was talking about the £1.60/£1.15 split, not yours, mate. Ron, GCM are closed Sat/Sun. VAT on fuel is 5%...NOT 20%!
  20. Clive, Hi I'm not trying to be pedantic but if you can fill up at 45p/litre cheaper within a very short distance from your hire-yard then it must make sense to do so. Regardless of any other considerations.
  21. Of course it isn't... they're just profiteering...
