  1. Well, we do! Also the trusty camera is on hand at all times! But it's a shock, I agree. When you've been rammed in your new shiney boat (the last one) it brings it home to you...
  2. But it just couldn't work. I know Clive's guys put over 400 boats out each week in the Summer (???) and that would be down-right impossible to attempt. NO, I think if you keep your boat on the Broads then: a) If it's North you've got to expect a bash quite often If it's South then hopefully only occasionally verbum sapienti sat est And hopefully that's the end of this thread!
  3. Maybe inflammatory John but unfortunately true. Please don't take it out of context as there are plenty of good helms behind a hire boat wheel and a few bad ones inside the private ones but proof is in the pudding as they say. I didn't think it was inflammatory... only that it took some fair amount of courage to say it...
  4. Not required in Holland and if they applied that here the Norfolk Broads Hire Fleets would all be bankrupt in a week!
  5. Wish we'd been about to meet up with you, Paul.... and hopefully not in a confrontational way!
  6. I used to buy all our chandlery gear from them up to about 20 years ago....... I've not heard a whisper about this, though.... a sad day if it happens.

  9. Frank, Hi Can you let us have a few pics of your mod to the '40, pls? I'd like to do the same to ours.
  10. Once sorted they'll stay like that. unless he unsorts them!
  11. Yes, Dave it has. Fortunately for us we're retired and Friday Girl is warm and snug in even those times ( wet, cold, and miserable!) So we said "Sod it!" to the weather and spent the last two weeks in April and the first two in May aboard. it was a great break! We met up with old friends and made some new... just what the Norfolk Broads is about!
  12. Have you thought of putting it on a post onland when you're there? Also you can sort your favourite channels out as 1-2-3-4-5 etc on most digi-boxes.

  14. Absolutely! I've also got one and it's just too much trouble to bother with! Especially now the digi signal is so strong in Norfolk.
  15. Yes Geoff, that's it in a nutshell! Unfortunately you are one of the few (and I don't include NBN members!) who know sufficient to do just that!
  16. And there's the rub, Keith..... on our recent trip around I asked literally dozens of hirers what they were being charged for their diesel............ not one of them knew...
  17. Ah well, we're still hoping some of the members with Broads Cruisers will turn up to support us (in our Alpha!). Just a change below 'cos The Reevos are now making it for 3 nights! Roll-up, Roll-up! Here's the Latest.... Serenity returns to the fold! 18. Yes I noticed that in the tech specs but I was thinking about a sensible cruise speed for a 100NM sea-crossing of about 6-7 hours. That would be burning about 32l/hour, which isn't that bad, is it?
  19. Welcome aboard, Dave... we're sure you'll find us a friendly lot and some of our members are absolute fonts of knowledge!
