  1. If you'd read my post earlier in this thread : e: hire craft fuel by Hockham Admiral » 01 Apr 2012, 10:09 Thanks for that; I'll top up there later this week. And as an aside, I recollect that a nearby yard was charging £1.65 last year..... It was them I was talking about and you would have saved yourselves £55.
  2. All fuel is sold at that split, regardless of where you buy it on the Broads.... unless you are prepared to declare differently... So if you just sit on the boat for a week in the yard then you could legally demand fuel at only 5% VAT and NO road fuel supplement
  3. Howard, Hi. Personally I prefer my curly hair to stay that way............
  4. I'm sure you could but I doubt the hire yard would be too impressed if you knackered their electrics!!!
  5. Welcome aboard from us. You'll find a pretty well-informed lot here who can help with most questions about The Broads. Don't know about psycho onboard, though, I think you'd probably need help pretty soon with some of us!
  6. Surely that's for a car and however many pax onboard?
  7. The signs are just too kind! They're downright dangerous when wet!
  8. Me too, Stumpy. I've had yards come out to do the repairs or settle the bill when I've had it repaired myself... so it's not all bad.
  9. We are still hopeful we'll make Coltishall before we have to head South on the 18th.... we have a coupon for a meal in the King's Head and hope we won't be too disappointed! We will also try lunchtime in the Sun and look forward to the new management. We've never rated the previous lot very highly!
  10. It's three sections within each other which do extend telescopically and you just tighten up a collar on each section. Similar to this: http://www.aerialshack.com/caravan-aeri ... p-980.html
  11. Dave, Hi I really didn't know that hirers had to pay! Mind you I'm hardly surprised that Riccos et al insist... I've seen some of the damage done to their boats going under the Yarmouth bridges, let alone Wroxham or Potter!
  12. Sat onboard at the Acle Bridge Inn during the "Three Rivers" race... now that's entertainment! And not one ramming in the last three years there!
  13. We'll certainly stop by in early May, Rich... hope it all gets going well for you.
  14. Don't get too excited, Howard... here's their initial reply: "Thank you for your email. The Authority aims to deal with all enquiries within ten working days." If that was a business I doubt I'd do any with them!
  15. I've just e-mailed the BA to ask how long it will be out of use. Will post when I get a reply.
  16. Was it the food, drink or ambiance that put you off?
  17. That sounds a great idea, Frank... did you ask the guy at Aerialsandtv if it would affect the performance?
  18. Very little slips by me.............
  19. Welcome aboard, Seadog. Where do you moor?
  20. Now Oldcock, Old Chap, that's downright slanderous... and we don't do that on this forum
  21. Frank, Hi I've put my tape measure alongside my camera for tomorrow's visit to the boat but I think our aerial is the same size as yours... warch this space! I doubt you'll be able to fit a central attachment point as the top and bottom arrays are seperated by insulators. If you do then pls let me know how you've done it! If it's very windy I usually put a light guy-line from the pole attachment end of mine to any convenient tie-down handle on the boat.
  22. Oldcock, Hi, and belated welcome to the .Net! I don't think anyone has suggested thgt the larger yards aren't providing full tanks, just that they seem keen that you only use their fuel... even this isn't a foregone. If you hired a car, van or truck it would only make sense to fill it up at the cheapest garage before you returned it! That's the point being made. Before they sold out to developers Topcraft did, in fact, have dipsticks attached to their fuel caps; so there was never a problem of how much fuel was onboard. It will be interesting to see if they're still there! Both SallyB and Friday Girl do carry and use them!
