  1. That will explain why Charlie calls Inge the wench. What he really means is WRENCH to free her from the Lakeside! Iain.
  2. Oh no, I knew that Poppy, JM has a "rich" Suffolk accent if I remember rightly from his days at the old shop at WRC. Iain.
  3. Awaits replies from the ESSEX whiners! ......Charlie!!!! Iain.
  4. Alan, I have worked up in the Highlands in winter where it was -22c and I was delighted to be INDOORS! We are in the Gulf Stream in Ayrshire, and winters in general pretty mild if a bit on the wet and windy side. IF it snows here, it usually means the rest of the UK has grind to a halt! Iain.
  5. Alan, Robin requires to go ooop North (Doncaster) first for some WINTER weather Training. The southern softies feel the cold below 21c! Iain.
  6. Great pics folks, doubt today you would have seen much. Looked very foggy both Wroxham and Oulton Broad. Iain.
  7. Monica, Are you sure its the eating? Not the pint at £1.99!!!! Not a great ale but a very good price just the same. Think the last time I was in our local Wetherspoons it was £1.75p for John Smiths. Gramps, Did you have ANY lumpy water? As Jean said the river is like glass. Iain.
  8. Perhaps the EDP should be transferred to DC Thompson's at Dundee, and make it a REAL Comic. Iain.
  9. Hi Monica, Its not Glasgow, that's tight.....its Aberdeen on flag days, Union Street is empty! Without doubt, the coldest main street in ANY city in the UK! Brrr and that's in mid July! Iain.
  10. Tim, You deserve a medal if not a full bar of them! SWMBO has not stopped laughing since I read your post out! Brilliant, and agree 110% with MM...Best of luck ! Iain.
  11. Could? Ian they ARE practicing for this evening! Sorry Grace, Scoot it in dry dock just now, well in the boot of my car. Me in a Kilt? Aye, when I was about 6 years old! For those who have no idea the cost of a kilt, a good quality one starts from around £600.00p Full regalia approx £1250 to 1500. Iain
  12. Hi girls careful as you go!
  13. So why have they not been able to extricate him from his position of authority JM? Someone on this planet must be liking him!
  14. Hi Mark, I do too, as you know I live a long way from Norfolk, (not as far as Eric) but I do see how things appear by reading the local papers, admittedly their journalism at times is not of the best. Even a strong media asking important questions, surely would help the whole scenario how the Broads are run. I realise money only goes so far, no matter how its collected, but, IMHO the redistribution or lack of it leaves me confused at times. I like your SORN idea, but how that would run, I do not know. Let us hope this bringing together of all those interested in making the Broads better, works. Iain.
  15. Hi Andy, The smaller one I think the engine is at the stern. Not sure about the bigger boat. On the older 32ft Alphas a hole was cut in the roof and the engine under the mid bedroom bed. I know that as we had Gleaming Light a few years back. Not noisy either positions. Hope that helps. Oops should add we had Sparkling Horizon and it was at the stern. Iain.
  16. I am sure it will all be above board Mark,....Wont it? Iain
  17. Click the link next to the Cog Wheel, Marina
  18. Thank you for the very sad news update. Iain.

Use to see a lot of adders on the Isle of Arran golf courses. Going into the thick grass, was a somewhat dangerous thing to do! Iain.
  20. With all my visits to London, I watched a lot of the SHARD raise from the ground. Iain
  21. Mark, I thought they were a permanent fixture in London these days? Put another way, always see them coming into London by train from Gatwick! Iain
  22. Thanks for the pics Ian. I have "flown" on the London Eye. Never been on the Tring Tring building. You most certainly see London from a different level! Iain
  23. Robin, I perhaps should have said when cruising for 11 or 14 days, there just is not enough room in certain cabins. For example, Broadway2 twin cabin is most certainly not fitted IMO for two adults, Kids yes. Boats like motor cars, the perfect build has not been designed yet, certainly NOT with IKEA! built in lol Prefabrication is rife today in many facets of building, I suspect boatbuilding is no different. Through my 50 plus years in the building trade I have worked on jobs where the finest designers have been involved. However, Paper and Pen aye and computer too, does not fit the items..WE the tradesmen have to perform these minor miracles at times. I still think a design can always be improved on a Boat Model. Money permitting of course. Iain
  24. Grace, Having hired one of the new boats this year,(Broadway2) to me there is less storage space than on the older boats for clothes etc. I passed on my short trip this month the old P&H Sunmist which is at Maycraft, and think back to how the lads at Porter and Haylett went OTT on storage on that Hampton 25! The new boats are great, with all the gizmos etc, but the old boats in many ways have a lot more character and storage IMHO. Iain.
