  1. Hi Tim, I too hope the little girl is OK. I agree with you 100% in all you say, and did ! For a millisecond you had me worried though with the headline ! Iain
  2. May I wish all those who are travelling to the Meet at Surlingham Ferry Inn, do have a safe trip and good weather for the weekend. I am sure your waistbands will require streaching after Sonia's excellent food ! Iain
  3. I took a liking to wheat beers in Belgium. Some though do have a kick like a mule !Good to see you are putting your liver through all the tests, Mark ! Iain
  4. These days you can also adjust your heating at home with your mobile - soon be winter When I think back trying to find a phone that worked on the broads to contact the home boatyard, it was not always straight forward. Often the phones didn't work, or you had to use a pub rip off yellow phone that was 50p as soon as you dialled the number! So, yes, the technology is there, if you wish to use it. All about choice I think. MM remarks regarding family is a perfect example of what the mobile is very useful for. Iain
  5. The young lady behind the bar and myself were the only two Scots in the Craignure Hotel when I was working on the Isle of Mull, everyone else there, had moved up from the London area.! That was in 1990. Iain
  6. How many bottles of wine and shoes does that cost !
  7. I blame KFC ! They were from memory the first fast food outlet in POW Road.! If I cruise to the Yacht Station, I stay overnight, I have been once when footy was on at Carrow Road, and lived to type this reply. The media today will go to any length to make an average story sound breaking news special! I find the EDP a very poor example of a regional paper IMHO. Instead of always knocking the area they SHOULD be talking it up more often! Iain
  8. The rest are on Skye, Mull and the Isle of Arran!
  9. Less than two metres you could hire a 35ft cruiser for a week!
  10. Nah Stuart, I am the same with the Homes Under the Hammer prog, when I see some of the electrical work or lack of it !!!
  11. One road has given the Fine City a bad name, ONE ROAD. Rose Street, in Edinburgh has been famous for years, it too has suffered from the yob culture, Glasgow has cleaned its act up, big time, but, I would not go there after 10pm! I am sure all the cities in the UK have a road that would rather not be known for all the wrong reasons, sadly, today, the modern culture of some is to get blotto every weekend, come what may. Kyle has chosen in this instance, selected, Norwich, I am sure he could if he really tried, picked somewhere else ! Iain
  12. Has, and always will be, to me, be known as a Fine City!
  13. Could have been about the C word Jean or the X word. Must say, it does sound a bit odd regarding NBD. We were moored next to that boat the last time we were down. Nice looking craft, indeed. As for the news regarding Brooms Commodore, good news indeed, need as many hire boats as possible from down south ! Iain
  14. Yip, cannot see it being a single one.....can you?
  15. Hi Trev, The spring meeting is at Salhouse Broad on the weekend 20th/21st May. Iain
  16. Rumour has it JM, their GARAGE DOOR was converted for such items !
  17. As Mrs G says more foreign holidays, he may not be back from Tenerife for a very long time! Perhaps he has been booked up as a comedian there!
  18. Hi Gracie, Our niece has just returned from a year working in Auckland, NZ. She was telling us all what happens at work on Friday afternoons. Ah item very close to your heart, Wine! Every Friday afternoon they stop early in the office, and partake of a glass of the finest NZ wine! Now that's what I call civilised ! There is a downside though, if out for a glass of wine it cost around $14 NZ a glass !! Gulp ! That is around £7.00 in our money. She is back to stock up with summer clothes, and shoes, as they are so expensive there! Flys back there at the weekend. Iain
