Ah and as an ex seafarerer the mythical golden rivet and on VLCC's trading around the Cape of Good Hope having all first trippers on the bridge looking out for the South Atlantic Mail Buoy for all their letters from their loved ones even had my kids looking out for it Would probably be sacked for work place bullying these,days Ray

I hear what you are saying Lori, but the charity bag collections I dont mind you can shove all your tat, old knickers, socks, dodgy magazines etc in them, they pick it up and take it away, saves a trip to the dump Ray & Carole

Got a bit of a taste for it while working in Russia and Kazakhstan Grace, where its a lot cheaper, anyway it is only a Christmas treat, make sure we hide it from the kids tho Carole just completed her long course of nasty antibiotics so the nausea is slowly improving and she is up and about a bit again so fingers crossed for a good Christmas and thanks for asking Ray & Carole

Reminds me when I was doing a job in Kazakhstan a few years ago, winter, minus 40c, chap taking me in big 4x4 to job site, asked him about the interesting smelling windscreen washer fluid he was using, neat bulk vodka, cheaper than buying screenwash Ray -
Took out Governor membership many years ago and also contribute whenever I see a collection box, as both a professional seafarer and a leisure boater its always at the back of your mind you may need their services one day Ray

Had to cut my balls off today As Carole not been well couldnt make up usual hanging baskets, so got some artificial topiary balls, well with this wind they have been going wild banging around, so decided to cut them down for the winter. Not As painful as the first line would suggest Ray

Fire Points and the BSC

Agree with the above regarding powder and gas extinguishers, would seem that the fire point is probably the best option as long as you have a suitable portable powder extinguisher close by, then you would only deploy the powder if you had a real fire when engine damage would be the least of your worries, this is the option we are taking on Tangara ( when I get the time to fit it) Of course thats as long as long as your insurance does not require a fixed automatic system to be fitted. Mud and snows all round on Caroles Jimbo, off to Gatport Airwick Friday for 3 weeks in Fuerteventura, back on 22nd Dec, shovel, deicer, emergency rations, snow tracks, sleeping bags, water, tea, coffee and stove will be left in the back just in case we are snowed in when we get back, but as usual most years never needed but ready just in case Ray & Carole -
Now theres a thought Iain, trotters on a bed of samphire, unfortunately Norfolk samphire not in season and dont fancy the Israeli stuff they sell in the supermarkets Ray
