  1. Had a bit of a girls night out last night and they look exactly how I feel this morning Lol. Never again Grace
  2. So sorry to hear that Mark, hope your Boat is ok. Do you know if Tea Pot Island has been affected? Did'nt think to ask when I was down that way the other week, I would imagine it has due to the location, I believe up River from Little Venice. Will be thinking of you Grace
  3. Hi All A friend of ours who puts on Antique Fairs at the Hop Farm in Paddock Wood near Yalding had a Fair cancelled yesterday due to very high river levels on the river Medway. Here's hoping the river does not burst it's banks once again, Grace
  4. Wow, that picture is brilliant, not too clever with map references all foreign to me I am afraid, but that just about explains everything. If you don't mind paladin I will print that off and take it with me on my holidays.Once again fantastic information. Grace
  5. I couldn't agree more, I don't think you can beat the peace and tranquility that comes with wild mooring in those little out-of-the-way places, Grace
  6. Paladine I must thank you once again for such in depth information, you have answered a lot of questions I also had about Barton Broad, I find it hard to believe that people ignore the shallow water signs and get stuck they are obviously there for a reason. Great pictures by the way. Grace
  7. Sorry Mowjo, the pesky remark was mean't with affection. If I see you moored there Sir I will come aboard and take your ship (I watch Hornblower you know) Grace
  8. Thank you for the info Paladin, we enjoy long challenging walks so should be interesting. Grace
  9. I don't know for sure but I believe it's between Barton Broad and the wind mill type thingy's at How Hill. I may have it completely wrong, so hopefully someone will come along and put me right. If I am right it's a small dyke with space for at least one large Boat, with a lovely flat grassed area. Grace
  10. Johnny Crowes Staithe,(at least that's what I think it's called) I believe is on the River Ant is such a lovely mooring but never moored there due to it always being taken (mainly by those pesky private owners ). Is it classed as a wild mooring and can anyone moor there? Also is there access to go for a long walk? I am determined this year to nab that mooring do you reckon if I make a Private Mooring sign and put there I would get away with it : Lol Grace
  11. Well I think tomatoes should stay red, the thought of eating genetically modified anything makes me feel ill. So tomatoes are red and should stay red, think I will start a 'keep our tomatoes red' campaign and get some t shirts printed Lol Grace
  12. Me too Alan, Owen was an excellent character and so rude at times, which just made me laugh even more Grace
  13. i remember when my dad used to watch it and he never missed an episode. When he switched it on I used to think oh no not again what on earth does he find so funny, Then started to watch the re-runs on Sky Gold and loved it. Did any of you watch him on Vicar of Dibley he was hilarious in that too. A lot of so called comedy actors could learn a lot from the likes of him, a very sad loss Grace
  14. Hi Sueh Sadly I was out and missed the programme, but I have the same dream as you to buy a house and live in Norfolk. The only way it's going to happen at the moment is if my numbers come up. I am very low maintenance so just a five bedroom house on any stretch of river front in Norfolk with mooring rights and 38ft centre cockpit moored at the bottom of my garden, that's not too much to ask is it Lol
  15. Hi Hockham Admiral I have to say the stretch of river between Wroxham and Coltishall is for me the most beautiful, as you say magical, I look forward to seeing it in winter time. May I just add I am nearly upto my 50th post, this may seem a bit sad to some but I am very excited, what happens when you reach the magic number? (note to self, need to get out more Lol) Grace
  16. Thank you Matt, I believe they are very nice Boats will have a good look. Grace
  17. Thanks for the advice, very much appreciated. Winter cruising is on my to do list and after reading some of the posts on here sooner rather than later. Extra duvets, woolly hats and gloves, hot water bottles, throws, extra coats and warm clothing, I will probably resemble a Yeti with that lot on Lol, Grace
  18. I know there are not many if at all any hire Boats out in the winter but do many of you private Boat owners on here do much winter cruising? Apart from obvious dangers such as ice, slippery pontoons and the cold it must be wonderful to have the rivers to yourselves, and I would imagine if you have good heating on your Boat it can be lovely and cosy. The latest in the year that we have hired has been October and that was probably my favourite time, would like to have a cruise in winter, just wondered about the pros and cons. Grace
  19. Hi Lori Sorry can't answer your question but been thinking of collecting these books for some time, are they a good read? Crime and Murder are my favourite type of book, so Crime and Murder on the Broads and I am in heaven Lol Grace
  20. Wow jon she really is a stunner, looking forward to following her restoration. Grace
  21. A very warm welcome from me. Yes it is true this Forum is addictive as is the Broads and I think you will find there is no cure. Take my advice keep posting and hiring Boats it's the only way Lol Grace
  22. Hi Hockham Admiral Brilliant answer and so simple, sometimes my brain does hurt and can't say I was having a blonde moment when asking that question because I actually am blonde Lol Grace
  23. Good question, have never even given it a thought, although we have had no problems wild mooring that's not to say we might not in the future. If wild mooring on a hire boat and you have a medical emergency during the night, with no mobile signal what would you do? I suppose if it's not medical and fairly minor you would just sit and wait and hope someone cruises past and shout for help, be interesting to read others views on this. Grace
  24. Just looked at Jonzo's link and wow what a lovely Boat, need my numbers to come up. Think you will find that Silverline is highly regarded on here, totally agree with Alan about cooking on holiday, we tend to have our main meal at one of the pubs and no washing up yay Grace
  25. Went to Wateringbury yesterday to see friends and walked along the river at Bow Bridge marina, all the boats that were on the hard standing were scattered everywhere, it resembled a Boat graveyard, there were Boats on top of Boats, I know people have lost homes and valuables but still very sad to see. After a chat with the Marina owner it seems he can't crane them off due to the sodden ground but will do as soon as he is able. Let's hope they are all insured and can get sorted as soon as possible. Grace
