  1. Have'nt really thought about it to be honest, its very handy on the Medway as we are only just over an hour away on a good run so great for weekends and I think I can just about put up with the locks if it means being afloat. Can you wild moor on the Medway, like you can on the Broads? Grace
  2. Very much enjoying it thank you Alan, hopefully come down to Rochester one day (when a bit more confident) and I'll let you buy me a pint It is very pretty where we are but not keen on the locks, used them before on a holiday to the Yorkshire Ouse, although exciting at first got fed up with them after two weeks, bloody hard work lol. Grace
  3. Hi Alan Congratulations on selling Jessica, been following this thread with interest not that I understand the Technical bits though lol. Enjoy your sail, stay safe Grace
  4. Oh dear, apologise if I got the cost wrong, should have added that was the cost of one week not two, Grace
  5. Same as your maggots then JTF Grace
  6. We hired a dinghy from Richardsons last year and I think the cost was about £40, we will never not hire one again it was so much fun. As Paladin has said you need to allocate a crew member to take care of the dinghy when mooring and always wear life jackets. We mud weighted at Ranworth last year (August) as all the moorings were taken so rowed over to the pub for a meal, it was quite eventful on the way back after a couple of drinks lol Great for exploring where a cruiser won't go and I suggest a row around Barton Broad at sunset, breathtaking. Grace
  7. They also do the most delicious full english breakfast, also agree the cakes are to die for, probably why I have to hit the gym after every Broads holiday lol. Also bought some lovely little gifts from the shop, one of the nicest places on the Broads In my opinion.
  8. mbird those photos are just beautiful, thank you for posting them Grace
  9. lovely photo mbird, your wife looks beautiful, you don't look too bad either, nice legs . What a lovely place to have a reception, if you don't mind me asking whereabouts did you hold it. (was going to say have it, but thought better of it with the three rascals about lol) Grace
  10. You ask a simple question and another thread descends into complete chaos and the main culprits, Broadscot, JTF and Mowjo (as Usual). I'm loving it Grace
  11. JTF you do make me smile, I am just not gonna get a serious answer to this am I Grace
  12. 'The big bodied ones with the legs that fold up close to their body', Strowager that image will stay with me forever lol. Seriously though am I having my leg pulled or do conkers really work, I seem to remember reading somewhere that you could buy an electrical type device that gives off some sort of signal they don't like and stops them coming into the boat. I may be totally wrong and having another blonde moment but has anyone heard of this type of thing. Grace
  13. When we walk back from the pubs on Broads holidays it never seems to be in a straight line Grace
  14. Is there anything that can be done to stop spiders getting into boats and canopy's etc? Although I love the great outdoors I could give Paula Radcliffe a run for her money if I'm anywhere near one. Just wondered if any of you guy's knew of something (apart from killing them which is a no no) that would help. Grace
  15. Could'nt agree more Alan, on holidays I often sit outside of the boat until very late just listening to the wild life and the water and of course with a glass of something in hand, magical. We have one of those led lanterns you can charge at home and works for weeks apparently, took it with me when going for a walk at the marina on saturday evening and it worked very well. Grace
  16. Just spent our first weekend on board and it was lovely, most of Saturday evening we spent outside with the canopy back and having a few drinks, although it got cold we just put extra clothing on and had another drink lol Only took us an hour and fifteen minutes from leaving home so not bad at all. Grace
  17. Hello All All I can say is a huge thank you once again for your support on buying MY boat, (that does sound good Alan). My husband and two sons have threatened to disown me (me not the boat) if I dress her in pink fenders, pink curtains and name her Pink Lady, honestly you men. The boat lives at a Marina on the Medway, we intend to use her for weekends but have main holidays on the Broads, haven't given a thought to the trailer idea but might look into it. Mark if I see Ellieknight will give you a wave. Sue, don't be too envious, she is just an old banger really, but in love with her just the same, and looking forward to a good bad day on the boat Frank. Supposed to be going on a night out with the girls tonight, they will have to pay cos I am broke lol Grace
  18. Will do john (when I work out how to ha ha), want to pretty her up first, maybe pink curtains and fenders, only joking Grace
  19. \well, we have done it, we are now proud owners of a Birchwood 22 (not 25) as from yesterday. She is in lovely condition and not much needs doing, she really is ready to go. Got the price down thanks to Frank and Martins advice on haggling, you would have been proud of me guys lol Going this weekend to have a clean and tidy and maybe spend the night on board. Just like to say a big thank you for all the advice, I took notes and sounded like a true professional lol. What an excellent Forum this is for advice and guidance thank you all so much once again
  20. Really loving this blog and the photographs are stunning Grace
  21. We did get shouted at once on our hen party,a lady thought I was going to hit her boat when coming into moor and to be honest I was nowhere near it. We smiled sweetly and offered her a glass of wine, her face was a picture. Grace
  22. Thank you paladin. (if you hurry) you're not suggesting I break the speed limit are you? Grace
  23. Such a shame, we haven't been up to Hickling for a few years now, used to love mud weighting on the Broad. Good idea from Alan about the day boat, might do that this year myself, how long would it take to cruise to the pub up there have lunch and cruise back in time to hand the day boat back? Just wondering if we would need the day boat for a whole day or just an afternoon, As said It's been a few years so can't remember the distance. Grace
  24. Colin I don't think there's a better holiday for recharging and complete relaxation than a boat on the Broads, come rain or shine. Waterproofs, wellies or bikinis, who care's it's the Broads Grace
