  1. My thoughts exactly, most have to be returned by 5pm.
  2. A dreadful experience for all onboard, well done to all the emergency services involved. That sounds like that could of gone horribly wrong very quickly.
  3. Drove straight onto our local texaco forecourt this morning, £35 limit per car, no problem. I'm using my wife's car today as my works car is being serviced. I was a bit taken back at 1.36 per ltr. With our company cars we have to use our in-house fuel pumps at the depot so not really up with current prices. Seemed a bit dear to me.. but at least the fruit loops have calmed down.
  4. Offten wondered if the hire yards flush f/w tanks out after the boats have sat about all winter.
  5. Did they from the start, maybe we could get kermit to give us some advice 🤔
  6. I have a very good friend who has lived in Spain these last ten years. We have a laugh most weeks about the state this country is in. He says you really don't realise how bad it is until you've removed yourself. Sadly brexit and the pandemic has exposed it even more. The whole thing is a shambles and it ain't gonna get any better anytime soon. Weak politicians, greed and self just 3 of the main ingredients.
  7. Totally agree, maybe many an hour wasted filling up tanks at no more then a trickle that didn'treally need to be. Gauges would definitely help
  8. I hadn't realised just how big the site is. Definitely scope to build a fair few properties there.
  9. Is the hotel side of the pub open, do we know ??
  10. We are onboard dazzling light in just over a weeks time. We were chatting with our friends that will be onboard with us last night, when I mentioned we had to fill the tank up daily. The girls seemed quite surprised by this fact ( they are new to boating) and it got me wondering if all hire boats use a standard size tank. The boat is capable of sleeping 10 so I'm assuming it's quite a large tank ??
  11. The situation seems to have calmed down in my area, passed an asda,bp and sainsbury forecourt this morning. All open and no ques, all seems calm for now lol. Am I the only one who is thinking whatever next. Ten quid its turkey gate?
  12. It's been a while since I've gone under Wroxham bridge. I know the old porter and haylet yards is now a private marina. But I remember they had quite extensive shed facilities as well. I always use to take a look in the sheds when moored and there would always be a production line of boats being built destined for France. Does anyone know what the shed are used for now.
  13. If this location is where I think it is, I can remember moorings there going back to the 70s.
  14. I thought that aswell, but I doubt very much that's what Rico actually paid for it.
  15. Isn't the heritage brand owned by the Thwaite brothers aka Barnes.
  16. Thanks for the advice, we will give it a go..
  17. Thanks, my grandson has just shown me on Google earth. I noticed what looks like two boats the same size as our moored at gayes. So I'm assuming it will be fine. ( famous last words )
  18. I've seen so many members posts and comments about the above but I've never been up that part of the ant. We are afloat in a couple of weeks and I wanted to try and visit. We will be onboard dazzling light which is one of woods biggest boats. I'm a bit worried il get up to Neatishead and if unable to moor I won't be able to turn around. Any advice ? Is the boat to big to attempt the journey in the first place. Thanks in advance.
  19. I joined my current employer in June 2006 back then the UK had a shortage of approx 50k drivers, so the 100k shortage is slightly misleading. Even with the influx of drivers from Eastern European countries etc, there has always been a healthy number of driving vacancies. Drivers could pretty much pick and choose. We must remember the vast majority of those that have left done so out of choice and were not forced out by brexit ( brexit has had an impact I have no doubt) then add in the changes HMRC made to temporary driver employment status the pandemic and better terms and conditions in there own countries. And here we are, there is no quick fix have no doubt about that.
  20. Time to disp Nope, you are wrong there I'm afraid, they do indeed. If there cpc entitlement ( card ) has expired they do need to do that all over again. So the minister was correct.
  21. Exactly, the fuel distribution network here in the UK is very robust. Give the guys a chance and they will turn it around in 48hrs. You can only fill your car up so much.
  22. Andy it's the media responsibility to report facts and not incite panic. There wasn't a fuel supply issue until the media got hold of what was basically a non story regarding a very small number of bp outlets. We have great big 50inch TV screens in our transport office showing both bbc and sky news and we stood amazed as the news reporting just got more and more laughable as the day went on. We worked all through the pandemic our depot is one of the largest in the UK, not once during the first lockdown did any media organisation ask to come film in our warehouse to help reassure the public there were no shortages of food etc. In fact it was the total opposite, we were bursting at the seems. But plenty of TV crews outside our stores filming the chaos. Its was the same story at all our distribution facility's and stores. Why our news channels feel the need to copy our cousins across the pond and use sensationalism and hear say as news is beyond me.
