  1. Yep had my stagg with rickos, not a single complaint. 16 of us on three boats well over 3k spent in local pubs and restaurants,Over the course of the weekend. Does gripe me when certain ppl tar everyone with the same brush.
  2. I wouldn't believe to much of what old MOL has to say, his just trying to panic ppl into booking a seat on his airline. The jury is still out on overseas travel for 22. We have the winter to get through yet and all that could potentially bring. I think your see prices rise all round here in the UK. We've just tried to book a Premier Inn in Cornwall for next Sept. A two night stay is already 346 pounds. WOW.
  3. Someone with Italian connections, going by the new boats names 😉 I assume it clives brother Paul.
  4. I'm not so sure all the boats Dan has mentioned are new to the market. Pretty sure monarch, Jamaica, Trinidad, most of the old horizons were up for sale last season, they definitely were at the beginning of this year. Maybe just making the fleet more manageable, like Vaughan I really don't like any of the ideal boats but they would make good liveaboads I guess. Now Clive is not at Stalham anymore,we won't know what's happening to the fleet I guess. Some of the boats mention don't let very well. The challengers, Jamaicas, blue horizon and Trinidads always seemed to be available outside school holidays before covid struck.
  5. We've actually had a good look round this boat. We loved the inside to be honest. My wife wouldn't hire her because of the limited access. If I remember rightly the steps aren't a smooth surface they are a rough non slip type texture. There is LED lighting built into the superstructure that lights it up very well in the dark.
  6. My comments were in regard to the incident at St olaves and not Yarmouth. I stand by them, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out the potential hazards when approaching a bridge in such a high boat. It happens way to often for it to be a mishap. Clearly as boats get bigger and are equipped with more gadgets ( bow and stern thruster etc ) the handover process needs a massive re think for these types of boats. I'm on dazzling light in a few weeks time and il be interested to see how the handover goes. I've absolutely no idea how much a commodore costs to build but I guessing 250k minimum. Surely its in the interest of the owners to do all they can to protect their investments. Or has the non refundable damage wavier made everyone complacent. Just my thoughts.
  7. Hemsby life boat attended an incident at St olaves on the 25/9 one of Richardson's new dual steer boats got wedged under the bridge. Crew taken off and Richardson's engineers put aboard with ballast drums and pump. Boat was safely removed. As reported on Hemsby fb page. Now my question would be, how on earth did that happen ?? The pictures quite clearly show it was a bright sunny day ! So I assume it was being helmed from the flybridge, yes I know you should never assume. If it wasn't then the only other explanation is a total lack of awareness and disregard for the safety of the crew and boat. There are stickers on all these boats warning of the dangers of low bridge's it's in the skippers manual, highlighted on websites the companies brouches etc etc. So how does a boat yard design out stupidly. I'm sorry but at some point the crew/s need to take responsibility for there actions and stop looking to blame others..
  8. A very sad and tragic event. But I notice in the other place the yards and hirer's are being questioned. this boat has been afloat on hire for some years now and to my knowledge its the 1st incident she's been involved in. Like you say Vaughan there is a huge amount of information we are not party to. So why people feel the need to Start pointing fingers is beyond me. We were once leaving Reedham ferry, my father nudged the quay heading by accident not very hard at all. I wasn't expecting the jolt and if it wasn't for my brother grabing me I'd of ended up in the water. So it doesn't take a great deal for things to go horribly wrong. Poor woman, may she rest in peace.
  9. I've hired suncharm a fair few times from her first season up until two years ago. She's a very economical boat, I've always had a refund on my fuel deposit. I've travelled from Stalham to Norwich, Loddon and back and still got money back. Number 2 has a real pain in the but throttle lever that after 1000 rpm you have to physically hold down. But a very nice boat IMHO
  10. Oh my granddaughter did back in June lol. He was on us like a shot. Very nice it was aswell 👌
  11. Bridgecraft have put golden Bridge back into there hire fleet after a refresh. She is now available to hire.Bit late in the season but I guess the demand is still there.
  12. Now there's a business idea if ever I've seen one.A pizza boat, if we can have an icream boat why not pizza. From Wroxham upto Ranworth, jobs a goodun. Not to sure that giving away a free 2ltr Pepsi max with every pizza would work, might be a weight issue 🤔 watch this space, anyone got any red or green paint they don't need. 😉
  13. Wasn't Great gem from Stalham the same design as the sealords??
  14. And still 10% overpriced 😉
  15. I have to admit I'm really enjoying this current series. I think Sheila and Giles are a good pairing. Like many here I've often thought of trying a narrow boat holiday but have sadly never got round to doing so. Is there a reason why the boats are built with steel and not GRP. I assumed it had something to do with having to use so many locks. I especially liked this week's episode on the Leeds to Liverpool canal. Lots of history to see and visit. We live about a 40 minutes drive away from Hoddesdon where they started this series and I never knew you could hire boats from here. Something to look into over the coming winter nights.
  16. I sure hope the rain holds off this October, like many we are doing staycaystions this year. It will be my first broads holiday in October for at least 30yrs. We don't mind a bit of wind and it being cold but a combination of all 3 makes the broads a pretty miserable place in my opinion. Fingers crossed 🤞
  17. No it doesn't, does it ? 🤷‍♂️.
  18. Even better still, pack the tv back into its box, pour yourself a large glass of whatever tickels your fancy. Sit back and look out the window. Your never see a repeat or suffer bad reception and watching the world go by is truly wonderful and calming. 😉

    Which Pub?

Buttered tomatoes don't sound very appetising. They did like a bit of butter lol. Nothing I'd fancy on that menu. How about the ferry inn Horning?

    Which Pub?

    The Wroxham hotel ??
  21. Absolutely David, I should imagine the new boat if not completed isn't far off being finished. Its only a few weeks now and they start lifting the fleet out for winter maintenance and will need the space in the shed. They don't really keep there fb page upto date like some yards do.
  22. There's a lot of folk that would like to see that bridge gone. But I suspect most who live above the bridge want it left there. Personally I think Hickling is one of the nicest areas of the Northern rivers.
  23. So 5 days on and the image hasn't changed, surely silverline are aware of this. It must be quite frustrating for the business. A new boat would normally book very quickly and I doubt to many ppl want to book a narrow boat on the broads. On the other hand how would you stand if you booked this fully expecting it to be a narrow boat ??
  24. The EU enforced drivers cpc is complete nonsense, I've sat through days and days of utter drivel. A day in the life of a strawberry has to of been the worst by far. I've watched the full catalogue of scania produced driver training videos over and over again. I can honestly say with mu hand of my heart I've learnt very little over the last 7 years by attending these courses. Why on earth anyone would want to enter our industry is beyond me. In our experience the biggest single factor that has fueled these current shortages has nothing to do with brexit or covid. it's the changes made by HMRC to agencies drivers Ltd company status. They have just gone back to mainland Europe it's as simple as that. This is the case at all our depots nationwide. Hgv driver shortages are nothing new there has always been shortages especially in the south east. The industry needs to change if it wants new blood to join, but sadly it won't and we will now see another influx of cheap imported labour from the African continent I suspect.
  25. Sadly addiction drives people to do such vile things. Clearly a person to stay well clear of. My military background would make me throw the bottle of whisky in to the river and watch him follow it. The joy I would get from seeing his face, when he realised he had just retrieved a warm bottle of p..s. wouldn't waste my breath or energy with the lowlife.
