  1. Just seen a picture of Pacifics new boat. Very nice indeed. 👌
  2. It's not just the shopping griff. England, hasn't existed since we dived into the EU. But hey that's a whole different debate.
  3. You sure about that ?? I beg to differ. Go to any shopping centre here in the UK and you might as well be in any city in the States. Out of town retail parks same. TGI Fridays etc etc etc. I was at freeport Braintree the other day, could of been at any one of the outlets scattered around international drive Orlando. We are more American then you realise, we even have drive thro coffee outlets. Think about it.
  4. No sales tax in the px stores as I found out to my delight on my first posting to the good old U S of A. Never owned so many pairs of levi 😉
  5. We actually enjoy being served our drinks at our table, it gives it more of a holiday feel for us. I guess since covid came along we look at things differently. Personally for me I'm in no rush to be knee deep at a bar trying to get served. So I guess there's a cost involved and I for one am quite happy to pay it. All three pubs in Horning have there pros and cons but all offer fantastic views of the busy river and a nice place to sit relax and just watch the world go by. Don't really care who the landlord is who owns the pub etc etc I'm not local. Il give all pubs ago once if I don't like I won't go back.
  6. Absolutely I'm with you 100% on that, we just divide the bill by the number of ppl in the group regardless of what we've all eaten etc..
  7. Yep called herbert woods, photo proof emailed over discount applied, simples. Should cover the service charge at the new Inn, wink wink...
  8. I didn't know that, il be giving them a call as Kim ( my wife ) is a nurse and has the blue light card, thanks for the info
  9. My favorite pub in Horning, was there last week and had no problems at all, it's decent pub grub but that's it. It's was very busy and the two young ladies worked the tables well with drink service. A bit pricey tho.
  10. I don't think last season was the total disaster some might think it was. Yes a painful year, April may and June were lost granted, how many yards put their staff on furlough so reduced labour costs, the reduction in vat plus other government incentives. Followed by 17 weeks of yards being fully booked 12 of them weeks were high season so not a total loss.
  11. They got a few harsh comments on fb earlier. Ridiculous price nice boat or not...
  12. Good stuff Clive, are these going to be Purley for HPC use or the wider market.
  13. And as a team I personally think they've produced some absolute cracking boats that are incredibly popular. Look forward to seeing Clives new boat. As far as the sedan that is awaiting fit out surely paul must have the skilled staff already employed looking after the fleet to finish it off. But hey that's none of my business..the new haines boats look fantastic and are a great addition to the fleet.
  14. I've hired a few boats where the heating has failed to start unless the engine was running. I've been told the fan is a huge drain on the batteries after a while. I'm not one for hiring a boat in the hight of summer ( rivers are too busy ) and as I get older the need for a good heating system creeps up my check list. So shore power is a big tick for me, I've no need for a hairdryer etc my wife will manage with using shore based showers and the like for drying her hair if she has to. But shore power gives her the option to stay aboard a nice cosy warm boat to do her thing, without the fear of everything shuting down. Just makes the holiday a bit more comfortable all round.
  15. It can be,depending on how long you run it and high you have the temp set.
  16. Spoke to woods today re our trip in Oct, that's exactly what we will do. Unused cards in theory should work the following year apparently. They just said don't buy to many as they are non refundable.
  17. Doesn't make any sense to me tbh, you spend a fortune on developing a sedan boat, have a mould already sitting on the yard but go and buy one. But hey its a lovely looking boat, don't like the sheerline tbh but hope they do well 👍
  18. I was under the impression the only time you'd need a covid pass was if you were planning on visiting a large event ie gig, sporting event or nightclub. Any venue on the broads ie pubs restaurants don't fall into this category so I don't see a problem when on holiday. All venues We use last week have relaxed their track and trace policies as far as I could see
  19. Blimey how things have changed, just booked a mooring at the new Inn for our first night. Had an email confirmation of our table and mooring booking. What happened to the days of a black board and chalk lol..
  20. Thanks for that great insight 👍
  21. I actually hired one of these back in their Oulton broads days. Must be a good 25 years ago. My kids were 10 and 5 back then and they played up top quite happily. I remember checking to see how strong the roof was.
  22. Hi guys not sure I've posted this in the right place, apologies if I haven't. I was wondering how boatyards reinforced the roofs on the the big new hire boat with the big sundeck. I've looked at a few and I don't see a whole load of poles inside supporting the roof and it can't be as simple matter of using stronger glass matting when laying up the mould ? Or is it ??
  23. Be sure to give us a wave 👋 if you do.
  24. Glad to hear another positive review for bridgecraft, they do get a lot of good feed back. I was really pleased to see them buy the old Alphacraft boats and put them back to work. They appear to be letting quite well for them. A new boat or two would be the icing on the cake for me.
  25. No overseas holidays in two years, so the holiday battle fund was quite healthy. She looks a cracking boat 😁
