  1. Geez is she still there? I assumed she was towed off Poor thing.. that sadly must be affecting peoples holidays and costing alpha money hope they get her off soon and she's not damaged.
  2. Gracie, I've tried answering this a few times, but I can't.. I dunno why its special, it just is??!! I also don't quite understand why it's so different being on a boat compared to staying in a hotel and visiting by land yacht.. but it just is Perhaps there's something in the water? (12days #18thapril). HI Geoff (Geoffandwendy), You will not get a full taste of even the northern system in a week. I know I'm still a newbie to the broads (I think I had 10 years up there before having a break!) but I've only just found new places last year and I know there's places I've still not been (even by car) and still not overnighted. I think this is one draw which keeps us coming back year after year! So don't worry you will have plenty time when you come back to visit the southern side because you will be back!! (which is 10x better than the north! - There are some seriously good pubs down there!)..
  3. Thanks for the tips there Eric! I'll grab some gloves!!
  4. Good day Misty, to the NBN. The boat looks absolutely amazing!! Well done I hope the launch went well and hoping you can post more pictures.
  5. Thanks alot.. I'll grab some...
  6. Hello All, Quick question;.... Does anyone know if the pump out token system at the WRC includes the blue loo? or do I need to get some? We will be using this quite a bit as it's our local pump out service. (Hope everyone is enjoying your easter eggs lol).
  7. As promised today was the final coating of antifoul (easier said that done considering the acros needed moving). Dave started early apparently do sewing (and he's about to do some more) he also cleaned the bilges and put the first coat of paint on the wheelhouse floor. We also did further tidying and I painted the mud weight and the pig iron for the ballast. Tomorrow is really the last day of the project and the jobs left to do can be counted on one hand now!!
  8. That makes me feel a bit better then if yourself as a local hasn't seen one!! But it's good as there's still to experiance. The first few days with a flybridge boat and I saw my first wild dear which was nice! The only place I've ever seen an Owl was in norfolk too, once at Thurne mill and actually last weekend on the way back from the erm pub lol.. Norfolk really is Britains magical waterways
  9. Thanks Mum. Shame too you can't make it Steve & Debs, Tell debs not to work too hard! I'm sure we will still catch up.. I still don't have an invoice so on the phone again to them on Tuesday! Today we had to go shopping for parts and food shopping which was a bad idea, it's like christmas out there, grr people! So we didnt get over to the boat till after lunch. So didn't get a lot done, But little jobs like change the lightbulb in a nav light, change the all round light to a LED bulb, fit the windscreen wiper and Install the stern drive and test it with the engine running. All good, Although the brand new prop we got for it doesn't fit, even though it came from the manufactorer, not happy, but dave will call them tuesday (they will get a serious earful if I call them). Tomorrow, Antifoul (if its dry and warm), Clean the bilges. Daves going to do some more sewing tonight.
  10. Definitely never heard one of them.. Never seen a swallowtail butterfly either and last year was the first time I saw a wild otter.. I really should spend less time in the pubs..
  11. and to the forum.. Your website looks really good and very comprehensive Best wishes for the coming season.
  12. That looks soo cool! I so hope we get to get out on some rough weather! if rockland was that rough imagine what breydon would be like!!
  13. Our Table is just 13mm ply wood with a 6mm oak laminate over top with some machined "p" section to cover the end grain.. A standard fixed table pole on one end and a bit of oak trim on the wall to hold that end up.. Simple but it desnt need to be to complex as it will either be up or down.
  14. Hi Alan, I've been hovering a lot but Dave has done well to keep it tidy for once lol, I need to hover before we go though. Thankfully there's not much to do although don't say that we will be working all the way to the last day as I still fear that would be the case!!. We only really need to antifoul, install the stern drive although that's been on and came off for security (but I want it on now), paint the wheelhouse floor white and make up the cushions which we've been doing in the evenings. I think we will be ok to finish this weekend with last weekend just stocking up and running the rubbish to the tip. ! Thanks for the kind words Iain, I had to admit I had to google them lol! but thanks again I like the idea of collection boxes, I am expecting everyone from the forum to be out lining the streets as flag wavers so a collection box will be a perfect addition!
  15. HI All, So we are still hard at work, We are on the home run though, we have the whole of this weekend to finish off as we come up two weeks tomorrow! Today stayed dry which I'm hoping is a good thing although I need to antifoul and we need to install the leg so hopefully it stays dry. Dave started early and installed the hatch cover over the front hatch and it looks good. He also fitted a door latch for the main door and repaired one of the canopy turn buckles which blew off in the recent winds, Fitted some brackets for the pole light as so it can be clamped for the lorry and when going and under bridges in norfolk. He adjusted the tappets on the engine as they sounded a bit off and apparently two was. I carpeted the back of the table which took a few hours as it does lol We also had a good tidy up and sort through some bits and I went round to the other project boats in the yard offloading (I mean donating!) stuff! We also had a chat with a few people (Nice to see Neil and Karen (Speedtriple) who made a surprise visit!) , many of which asking why we are still here lol but yup 2 weeks tomorrow!! Scary!! We was a bit stuck today as we need some parts and being easter friday hardly anything is open so tomorrow we can go out and get the remaining parts. Couple of pics attached.. Blue floor was my mistake! I thought prekote paint only came in white so didnt look but yup it's blue (the trade version we normally get only comes in white (our supply was contaminated by a recent flood) so the top coat may need three coats!
  16. Grace, basically someone broke the forum.. It looks like it was Iain .. We fixed it though although he blamed you I think... the rest is a blur lol
  17. Steve I think we should be asking for a premium for providing the "Entertainment"... ... Although this lot have been eating far too many topics.. Good news on the pots, I think/hope.. (Not sure which side of the fence pot I stand on this one! so I'm staying out of it and you will find me in the car park if needed!).
  18. If you have the template you are halfway there. Don't worry all the other bits just get sewing! I'd say a 10hp is good enough for the broads and for the boat a 20 or 25hp should get planning and give you a bit ease of mind around the tidal bits but 10hp should suffice! Good luck again
  19. "Fairy tale of the Broads national park"
  20. Cool another project.. Good luck with it and please post pictures everyone loves pictures. Couple of answers for you. Canopies aren't cheap and it seems the closer you get to the broads the dearer they become. You may want to look into doing it yourself, you can get all the parts and the fabric goes through a normal sewing machine. Take a look here for material: http://www.hawkehouse.co.uk/. If you want to get someone to do for you its probably worth emailing around (Details here: http://www.thenorfolkbroads.net/forum/forum/299-canopy-suppliers/) and hoping someone will give you the best quote. Engines, I'd go new if you have a pocket deep enough, Tohatsu are the best IMHO, although if you are lucky fleabay or boat jumbles may have good ones, although make sure it runs for sometime and goes in and out of gear before buying! For the outside cushions, we used 50mm closed cell, its not cheap and a bit hard but it doesn't rot and doesn't absorb water. Take a look here for foam (http://www.efoam.co.uk/closed-cell-polyethylene-foam.php). Hawke house again do the seating vinyl cheaply and other bits you will need. Good luck again and looking forward to watching your progress!
  21. Hi Iain, I'm going to get one of these eventually: http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Devices/Huawei/E5330_Mobile_Wi-Fi?memory=0&colour=White Although when I'm on the boat the last thing I do is reach for modern technology. The lack of internet connection for me is part of the pleasure of the broads. But apparently three has the better connection and I never experienced too much of a problem on my mobile which is on three (but as I say I don't really reach for it ).
  22. You lot have seriously been eating way too many topics...
  23. I have blatantly stolen this from elsewhere lol.. Looks like one of Clives heading for the train station in somerleyton? http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?s=3aa9e2cd5bbf3b81d3d084850319227e&showtopic=75099&hl
  24. Iain would a roof box be an alternative? as so use this for your (wifes) bits as so your scooter will fit in the boot? I suspect you will be able to pick up a roof box which is a similar cost of the scooter hire although obviously you can reuse the box again for next time?
  25. Grace.. Looking at the logs.. something happened just before Iain emailed me.. so don't worry I secretly blame HIM.... Lol
