  1. hi neil you must have sore fingers writing all that lot, it sounds like you had a really nice time, i know what you mean about being sad about having to wait til another year, i always feel sad when i have to leave, me & my sister always have a silly little ritual when we come on our hols, we usually go back to the boat yard on the last night & then get up early & take the boat out again for a last spin just to say goodbye but we are coming in september for our hols & looking forwards to it. lori
  2. Oooh you rotten torment john, , so do you or mary ever get up & sing when you've had a skin full of ale then ? lori
  3. i think we've got some nice countryside up here in derbyshire, but i still want to escape to norfolk , lori
  4. thanx for the info guys, , & don't worry goodall i won't go past the posts, i'm not that stupid, ive seen too many other people do it, & seen the consequences of it. lori
  5. hi all me & sis have hired san remo for a week in september, from the 19 th so if you see us give us a wave, but the one thing i'm puzzled about is the tide, had a look at a tide chart & it said that on the 25th there is a neap tide,so what is a neap tide & how will that affect us if we go across breydon ? loribear 
  6. hi john i'm afraid new planes don't do anything for me, it's the old ones i love to hear, we went to woodhall spa near coningsby & sat next to the river witham i think it was, & we saw 2 spitfires & a huge plane that looked like a lancaster bomber coming back from somewhere, but hubby said it was'nt one of those as it only had 2 engines, so not sure what it was, but it sounded beautiful ,listening that lovely roar of those deep engines sends shingles down your back, lori
  7. hi all the funniest thing i miss from when i was a youngster was seeing men in teddyboy outfits & haircuts, those skinny trousers, don't know how on earth they got into them, & seeing women in those pretty big dresses which had alot of lacy underwear under them. & the big hair styles, it must have been a nightmare trying to look nice all the time on a boat lori
  8. îž hi john they would certainly have to give the steel boats a wide berth, especially if it was drunks driving them, i know how scary it is when you're on the same river as the barges, when we borrowed dads boat & the engine stopped near the end of harecastle tunnel, but we managed to get it going again, but it did get us worried as it was a VERY long tunnel & had to have air pumped in first before you could go in. lori 
  9. hi clive i bet you're glad that hire boats are fibreglass these are'nt you, otherwise it would be a costly job to repair them, how did you used to go on when they were wooden, was it a hard job to fix them back again ? lori
  10. hi all have found an app which might be good to all you boat owners, called boating suite, which has log book ,expenses,to do list ,fuel log & maintenance. lori
  11. hi clive talking of handling boats, over the past couple of days ive seen some people on the webcam chat complain about not being able to get onto the boats anymore, as they had a disibility problem, & they had both been going on the broads for years, which is rather sad it seems that nobody makes boats for the disabled, i think ive only seen a couple of charity day boats that do that, maybe there's a niche in the market for some of them types of boats, will you ever make anything like that clive ? it does seem a pity when they'd been going all them years, not to be able to go now, lori
  12. Aaaahh she's a real beauty, i'm sure she'll give many hours of pleasure with the funny antics that dogs do lol, with her being white why not call her whitely. lori
  13. hi john, that's a really lovely picture, & a rare one too, the colours are so beautiful, it must have a real treat for you catching that, not many people get the chance to take a pic of one as they are so quick, nice one. lori
  14. or better still cover your ropes in itching powder, but don't forget to wear gloves yourselves, then when you see someone walking round town scratching their hands off you'll know who it is lol. lori
  15. hi all that takes me back to when i was a youngster, it seemt to feel like the broads with wooden boats on it, & i used to love the smell of those wooden boats, i know fibreglass is stronger but it does'nt seem the same somehow, but talking of flags, we went with astons & they used to have their own little flag on the front of their boats, it was black with red on the edge & a letter A in the middle, lori
  16. hi all it actually worries me that we no longer pay boatyard for propellor damage, one boatyard told us that if it's us that breaks it ,then we'd have to pay to get it fixed, that sounds reasonable but what if it's not our fault & we can't prove it, my dad had a propellor break on him when we went down the trent, ( on his boat of course lol ) because someone went past us at full pelt when the tide was out & we hit the bottom of the river & managed to crawl back to torksey lock, one of the blades had snapped off completely, so how could we prove it was'nt our fault say ,if someone did the same to us on breydon, how do you define the rules when it's a hire boat ? am just curious to know. has anybody had that happen to them. lori
  17. hi rammy oky doky, aye & you're right it is a sort of orange colour, it's suppose to be a copper colour, i fancied a change, got fed up of blonde. lori
