  1. Hi Alan, Cannon do a dual fuel, 6 burner, 2 ovens (fan and conventional), separate grill and a warming oven. Usually about £1150 but far superior quality to the Bellings (the main alternative). We've had ours a few years and find the oven temperatures are pretty accurate. regards Roy
  2. Merry Christmas to all from Lightning. Hope you all manage to have plenty of boating next year with absolutely brilliant weather. Roy http://www.lightningcruiser.com/
  3. The Irish stuff is whiskey. The Scottish stuff is whisky. Except to the Americans then both are whiskey . . but then they are Americans. The Chinese invented the stuff with monks taking the recipe to Ireland about 1,000 years ago, predating the Scottish industry by about 400 years. All this doesn't matter in the slightest . . . it all tastes good to me. Trying to work up the courage to try it with chocolate though. Just sampling a wee dram now to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Roy
  4. Lightning's website now has pics of the interior on the Specifications page. Roy http://www.lightningcruiser.com/
  5. thanks Matt . . . it is the work of our new Chairman Simon. Roy http://www.lightningcruiser.com/
  6. Shared ownership dual-steer cruiser Lightning, seven berths, now has her own website http://www.lightningcruiser.com/ At present there is one share for sale. For details see the website or PM me. Roy http://www.lightningcruiser.com/
  7. A four weeks per year share is available in Lightning. She is a 43ft Aquafibre Diamond, dual steer, seven berth. Lightning was built by Brooms for their hire fleet. She was then bought for use as a syndicate boat and is still based at Brooms who carry out her servicing, maintenance, turnaround etc. Next years allocation of weeks is April 16th and 23rd (fortnight), October 1st and 19th November. One of the April weeks had been swapped from a summer week as the present owners like out of season cruising. The boat is self managed so the running costs are kept as low as possible whilst still keeping Lightning in good condition. Annual running costs per share (including all winter work/maintenance) were in 2013-14 £1,162 and in 2014-15 £1,190. Weekly running costs (fuel and pump outs) are usually about £100. If you add this figure to the annual running cost you can see that your summer week comes out at about £1,300 which is less than one week's summer hire of an equivalent boat, so in fact your other three weeks only cost you about £100 each (fuel and pump outs). For share price and more details please PM me.
  8. Hi Neil,

The cleaner is called Robert, tel: 0786 786 2489. You have to contact him by the Wednesday prior to your Saturday departure, although the earlier the better.

    regards

    Roy

  10. Thanks Regulo. We once hired from the Lower Street yard and I do now remember the main yard being round the corner. I was still wondering where Percival's was and discovered a thread from May this year when AdnamsGirl posted an aerial photo that explains all: the yard in the pic was Banham's and Percival's was a similar sized yard approximately midway between Banham's and Southgates Lower Street yard.
  11. We have been out for a week from just after Christmas and over New Year when we had a share in Moonlight. Lucky with the weather and really enjoyed the quite rivers. An added bonus was seeing a Bittern slowly wading along the reeds on the Yare near Rockland. Matt and Neil. As you know we now have a share in Lightning and we do use the same cleaner as Thunder. They clean everything internally except: inside of microwave, inside of fridge and inside of oven and grill. We clean one side of the exterior on the last afternoon then return to Brooms to clean the other side. Internally we vacuum throughout and clean the galley and inside cupboards and drawers. The rest we then leave to the cleaner and haven't had any complaints from other owners. We are not as fit as we were and doing it this way stil takes us more than an hour for the inside. We think paying £40 for the remainder to be cleaned is good value considering that this sum (4 weeks £160) added to our annual running costs still gives us a summer weeks cruising for less than the cost of an equivalent hire boat - leaving us with the rest of the three weeks for a cost of about £100 per week (fuel and pumpouts).
  12. Was the boatyard on the right of the pic Banham's. I remember passing, on my first Broads holiday in 1958, a boatyard with a roundel painted on the shed which was Percival's. I thought for many years that Percival's was the boatyard pictured but since then I have read somewhere that Percival's was round the corner - just off picture top left.
  13. Hi Matt,

Just wondering if all shares are now sold in Thunder.

    best regards

    Roy

      Matt

No-two original shares left and unfortunately one of our owners passed away so that is also up for sale.

  14. I would check the taxi fare first. A few weeks ago my wife and her two friends were charged £7 from Norwich rail station to the market place. I dread to think how much it would be from Brundall.
  15. Think elf and safety would mean two people on site. Assuming a wage of £60 a day that's £120 plus overtime rate could easily be £240. Need to sell a fair amount of fuel and pump outs to make that back.
  16. Any truth in the rumour that Clarkson & Co's new programme is to be called Gear Knobs.
  17. Up a ladder fitting a security light just after 3pm today and turned to see what the noise was and there it was in a right hand bank, pretty low making its turn to fly over City (Barton) airport, Manchester (about two miles away). Third time I've seen it from my garden and fortunately managed to film it the first two times Roy
  18. A company called TV Village sell a Cello (British made and supplied to stores such as Debenhams) 12 volt 22 inch with DVD for £175. It can record to and play back from a USB stick. Only uses 17 watts and comes supplied with a regulated supply which can be used on 12/24 or 30 volts to a cigar type connector. Also supplied with mains lead. Roy
  19. Thanks Doug, We are leaving Brundall about 1.00pm heading for Somerleyton for the night. Better add an hour or so to my journey. Roy
  20. Wouldn't fancy a boat with an engine running on gas. if there was a leak on a car the gas would dissipate into the surrounding air; on a boat it could end up in the bilge. Roy
  21. Keith, do you know if the shore power sockets you mention are still available. Roy
  22. Watched one in Brundall last year. Pretty good view from Moonlight's mooring, Alan. Roy
  23. Hi John, Thought of going North but no low water convenient for the return journey. Not sure where we are going this time as we have one couple with us for a few days then a change of half the crew – still working on the logistics. We will probably get to both Oulton and Loddon during the week so will keep an eye out for you. If you spot us give us a wave. Roy
  24. Sad I know but still got most of the paperwork from my Broads and canal holidays.
