  1. Hi Mickey Welcome. I have had San Marino a couple of times, I found it to be a nice comfortable boat. You should have a great time, enjoy.
  2. Hi Dajen There is a static "Lanc" at Duxford and S for Sugar is at the RAF Museum at Hendon. "Just Jane" is at East Kirkby Lincolnshire and I think that she was waiting for new engines in 2012 to make her airworthy, I haven't heard if that happened. That will make her the third in the world to fly. Once apon a time she was at Biggin Hill in the late sixties before flying to Lincolnshire where I saw her completing taxing trials. Awesome.
  3. My Bounty Sedan also has a Nanni 50 and I cruise mostly on the North, at 1400 to 1500 revs. which is meant to equate to 4 - 5 mph I only have a dip stick to monitor fuel usage but I estimate that I am doing about 2litres/hour. Using the Admirals graph that seems a bit high.I have had Daylight Gate since March last year and I don't think that she has been out of the water for a few years (other than for survey). I intend to get her anti-fouled at the end of this season and I am hoping that this should improve fuel consumption. Am I right in this?
  4. This is a really good thread. Nice to read all of your Aviation anecdotes. I remember see the Vulcan when it gave it's last display with the RAF at Biggin Hill. Truly Iconic. Aviation is one of my other passions.
  5. Alan This sounds like a plan as I am about to repaint the deck on my Bounty.
  6. Hi Wussername and welcome I agree with Martin, providing that it is Major and Minor who are actually fishing they don't need a licence. You are just showing them how to do it. I will put money on it though that once you see how good the fishing is you will be hooked and will have a licence in no time. Tight lines.
  7. We have just returned after two weeks on the North Side. Fished Wayford, Womak. Neatished and Fleet Dyke. Lots of Bream up to 6lb (sorry I am still old money) Roach, Rudd, and Perch. I even nearly landed a good Pike on my float rod after it took the Roach that was on. Didn't half make me jump. Loads of fun.
  8. Sorry to report but we have just spent the last week cruising to Womak, South Walsham and Sutton, all popular places, but we didn't come across another NBN Bargee to keep us company. Brilliant cruising though and the fishing was prolific.
  9. Ziggy prowls the boatyards. He has a bit of an attitude. I am sure you will have a run in at some time. He decided to guard my car once and didn't like me going near it. I did win in the end but it did cause some amusement to the others around the yard at the time.
  10. Alan I have really enjoyed reading about this project, and being a newbie I have picked up a few tips. Well done she is looking extremely good now, keep it up.
  11. Frank I should be around the Ant for a couple of weeks, the week after next and I will keep the flag flying so that you won't need to feel lonely.
  12. Welcome aboard. I guess we are neighbours as I am moored across on the other yard at Wayford. I will keep a look out. By the way mind the Goose.
  13. Hi Eric Welcome aboard and happy sailing Gary
  14. Hi Gordon Sorry I didn't mean to go off at a tangent. Power is very dangerous at all levels and must be treated with respect.
  15. Strewth!!! Are all boaters in Norfolk ex BT (GPO)? That's where I started back in '68 London SE Region. Gary .
  16. Hi Mark Thanks for the welcome. If you are around the General at Sea pop in and we can chat over adventures. Gary
  17. Thanks for the welcome and the encouragement. Bloke next door is very friendly and I have been told very knowledgeable. I am new to owning a boat so I am sure that I will be over for some advice. As for the Goose I have had a few run ins with it but he a bit too quick. See you soon. Gary
  18. From my many years of experience working with the sparking energy I have found that isolated power supplies can be very unpredictable. Lets all learn from MBA's experience and be glad that he survived to tell the tale.
  19. Thanks Admiral, it will be aboard on Saturday. Were you moored at Sutton before the meet? I think that I recognise your cruiser as we were along there for fuel etc. Phsycicsurveyor, JawsOrca, LittleSprite Do you cruise the north side? If so I am sure our paths will cross. Thanks for the welcome. Gary
  20. Thank you all for the warm and friendly welcome. I will keep an eye out for you all whilst mooching about, good to see that I have company from my locale. I am hoping to go to the South early in July, an area that I have only ventured to once. Yarmouth could prove interesting. I am glad you like the way the make over is going, the aft cover does make a big difference. ( I am hoping to get up this weekend to get the the paint brush out to do a bit more, weather permitting.) I moor at Wayford a really nice quiet area with a good watering hole at the Wayford Inn. Burgee duly ordered and I am looking forward to meeting with you all during my travels. :waveGary
  21. Hi Jonzo I am glad that you had good times on her, when I saw her I knew that she was the right boat for me, Yes she is a little different now, she has crossed the Pennines and wears a red rose now and that is where the name Daylight Gate comes from. I will be very interested in seeing the photos of her in action. Thanks Gary
  22. Hi Speedtripple Thanks for the welcome. Yes M501 I think is Jimbo's old boat.. I must say that she is a very good cruiser and is very comfortable. I intend to give her the TLC that she deserves. I have renamed her and she is in the process of getting repainted, but I am having a fight with a Willow tree where I am moored. I will get it sorted. I hail from Chatham and there are a lot of Gary's about, may be we have met in the past. I have a feeling that Jimbo may have taken some photos as I cruised past, I would like to see them if he did as it is not easy to get photos of her as she is going along when your driving. Gary
  23. Just dropped in to say hello. I have cruised the Broads on hire boats for many years now and decided to take the plunge. Yes I have have my own money pit for the last year, must admit you can't beat it for absolute pleasure. Bounty 34 sedan I was cruising last weekend and came across the meet at Salhouse, looked like a lot of fun. Unfortunately not too much time to socialise. Gary
