  1. But how many 24hr moorings would we lose? Perhaps she could be club house for a sailing club? Whatever, she will require a lot of mooring space, and possibly a lot of re-plating!
  2. Easy, one and a half rolls a month!
  3. I note that the BA has taken it upon itself to cancel a number of forthcoming committee meetings because of Corona Virus. Very responsible!
  4. Obviously all subject to survey but if she needs slipping or dry-docking then she could be very expensive. It was thought by some that she was so far gone that it was dangerous to move her. I dread to think that she'll be abandoned.
  5. My on board tool box contains a 'sway' and very handy it is too. A powerful and easy to use screwdriver that doesn't require either the mains or a battery, ideal on a boat!
  6. Shopping on line is the answer! Perhaps rename your home as 'The Hermitage'.
  7. I've got shopping sorted! Oilskins, wellies, sou'wester, marigolds, dust-mask and swim-goggles, very debonair (not)! Bucket of Dettol on the doorstep to swill off all the virus germs when I get home, what could be easier or safer?
  8. It now appears that all of us over 70 are being advised to self isolate for twenty weeks, with food and medication delivered to our doorsteps. Thank goodness I have direct access to the river!
  9. Who knows, and that is a large part of the problem, seemingly no one does. One of my son in laws works in London. He relies on shared accommodation. His head office, in Los Angeles, now insists that the US staff work from home, but not so their UK staff! If he were to self isolate in London he would only have a room to go to for three nights a week. I am sure that there are many thousands of others in the same or a similar situation. Inevitably he would want to come home, who can blame him.
  10. A problem for both Norfolk & Suffolk is that of second homes, at least in regard to Coronavirus. I heard yesterday that a city family had decided to take refuge in their holiday home, understandably, but regretfully they have brought the virus with them. Inevitable I suppose.
  11. My thoughts exactly, but at least an admission is an admission.
  12. One of my daughters lived in one such community. All very sophisticated and she loved it! Back in England now but still revisits the friends that she made there. Houses, or at least bungalows built on concrete platforms is an obvious way forward.
  13. I have long thought that floating houses would be well suited to the Broads but I don't see it being allowing on the grand scale in the Authority's notional park. The obvious place to have allowed it would have been on Thorpe Island in what was Jenner's Boat Basin but that was never going to happen under the present, blinkered development policies.
  14. Southern Ireland and Italy have now gone into lock-down, schools and tourist attractions being closed. The US is closing its boarders to Europe. How long before the UK follows their example? Perhaps we should have taken the lead on these actions.
  15. Was it demolished or has it simply just sunk beneath the surface? As for new build, grandiose & large is probably not the way forward!
  16. In the last picture the stern line is far too tight and also it would be better fastened to the cleat nearest the shore. The boat is also moored over the rescue ladder meaning that a casualty could not self rescue or a rescuer would not be able to use the ladder to access a casualty. Pretty poor seamanship all round!
  17. The first picture is under exposed and the second is on the hur, as we say in Suffolk!
  18. I think it is up others to delve into the company's business, if they feel suitably inclined, rather than to simply speculate. Being a nosy old bugger I have done a spot of Googling, interesting reading!
  19. Morrison's at Lowestoft had quite a few bare shelves yesterday. I can't get baker's yeast anywhere! My daughter, who lives in Beccles, tells me that the new Lidl is well stocked so perhaps Beccles people are more sensible than their Lowestoft counterparts.
  20. Perhaps there is a degree of logic in going the Airbnb route. Houseboats are advertised on that website so why not mobile boats? Beyond that I suspect that Airbnb is a great deal cheaper than Hoseasons and also a great deal more fashionable right now. Being on Airbnb might also mean having little or no competition from other Broads yards. Having looked at the comings and goings on the Company's House website https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10369550/filing-history it does leave me rather nonplussed, not that I fully understand such things, but I do wonder if the more traditional letting sites might not have been wisely cautious in offering their services.
  21. Not sure that they weren't rented too. I seem to remember Richardson's being mentioned in that context. A shame that they didn't make it. After the initial interest when they opened, not least their choice of name (BBC), they pretty quickly dropped off the radar, or at least that was my impression..
  22. Marshman, please read: https://metro.co.uk/2020/02/27/makers-corona-report-132000000-loss-result-coronavirus-12312964/
