  1. All good stuff. Now this. Stern that. Port a bit. Starboard that. Hard reverse. Release the bow line. Bow thruster port. Bow thruster starboard. Phone a friend. Ask the audience. Not an option. I firmly believe that an instruction, on a forum such as this can lead to confusion and confidence by all concerned. The most important advice and really need to think about it. You, the helm, tell your crew what you intend to do. They know, you know. Think about it. Discuss and proceed. Take into consideration the tide, the wind, your boat and it's capabilities. No rush, believe me, it will work out OK. Oh, and I nearly forgot. Sometimes it all finishes in a muddle. But take solace in that we have all been there.
  2. I see constructive criticism on this forum from the discussion. I also see a degree of desperation from those who are unable to grasp the concerns of those who are unable to identify any positive outcome from this proposed venture.
  3. It said I was a statue.......................... amongst a load of pigeons.
  4. Looking forward to visiting the club house for a cup of tea and a bun. Will the grandchildren, 8 and 10, be able to have a bit of a flap about? Andrew
  5. Cley is of course one of the most important places for ornitholgists in the UK. I do not think that Acle is on many peoples bucket list. Where are all the visitors supposed to park? Will we need a bridge on the bridge to assist those who wish to walk from one side to the other..?
  6. We are doing the peace bit MM.
  7. As a matter of interest do all hire boats supply extra rope for springs. Andrew . Andrew
  8. Stern on would be good.?
  9. Not really. Just a topic for discussion. Best not to pursue any further if that is the interpretation. Andrew
  10. Are you allowed to move a boat even if the said boat is preventing you from mooring legally. Having said that I would be inclined to move it. If I was a parishioner I would have no compunction whatsoever. But that is a different story. Andrew
  11. You will have to ask Vaughan. If I remember he managed very well at Salhouse last year. Andrew
  12. You need medical advice. Now. Do it. Do not mess about. Andrew
  13. The Malsters at Ranworth used to allow parking for a small fee and have used it myself only last year for three days. Worth a try. Andrew
  14. I think that the worst nightmare would be if a young child was involved. I once asked a quay assistant what he would do. He replied that they are under strict instructions not to enter the water under any circumstances. However he did say that this would be a big ask. The brave actions at Great Yarmouth last year demonstrated how difficult it can be. Andrew
  15. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/water-safety-week-warning-1-5492183 Would you go in? Andrew
  16. I can remember the same scene in Norwich, many years ago now. Cattle would be driven from Trowse up towards Bracondale, down Ber Street and to the Norwich market. Then a few hundred yards away, in a different direction Carrow bridge would lift and get stuck. At Thorpe Narrows a double decker bus and a coach would try to pass each other and get stuck. All good fun on a Saturday morning. These were proper traffic jams. Andrew Andrew
  17. Me being a bit thick as usual but what does secured by design mean please and what is the relevance of battery PIR with text messaging RP. Andrew
  18. Looks jolly good to me. As close to a "confirmed" intruder alarm you are going to get. Andrew
  19. Who is responsible for this disgusting mess. The 3000 private owners. The 800 hire cruisers, perhaps fisherman, or how about the general public. I think that a good start would be to find out and then to pursue those responsible with a view to prosecution. Andrew
  20. The solution is to stop people littering the Broads in the first place.
  21. Not to me it doesn't when I have to pay for it through my rates. Andrew.
  22. The remains of boats that were deliberately sunk can be seen on many Broads. It is amazing how long some of the wooden hulks have survived. Andrew
