  1. might be worth sending the photos to the BA to say that 2 swimmers were obstructing the river making it unsafe for boats to proceed.
  2. So is this still going ahead, its all gone very quiet, has the water testing happened, as it is now less than a month from the event I would hope everything has been finalised.
  3. Too true, facebook is no substitute for a decent forum, it can happily run alongside, but the purposes of the two are not the same, facebook is all about the now, - just try and find something posted even as long as a few hours ago, whereas Forums are for the long term where you can search and easily find information.
  4. It could be down to the fact they are expecting huge crowds to the airshow that weekend.
  5. We used to have a seperate section for each of the different boat types, but we had complaints that there were too many different sections, which made navigation difficult, this is compounded by the advent of the mobile apps, where things would get extremely complicated if we were to have too may sections, so I think for now starting a seperate thread for each type of boat in the general discussion sub section of the boats section (or technical if it is a technical matter) as it becomes necessary will keep things simple.
  6. Loony X - perfect for the certified forum idiot
  7. plus think of the hazard it would have presented to the swimmers should that be going ahead.
  8. I used to use it to make signs to go on site, never had a problem with it myself.

when is half term, lads week is in October too.
  12. Well a double dose of steaming tonight, the last roof beam, plus a thinner wider beam bent up in the shallower jug, this will end up as the trailing edge of the roof, and be shaped to a curve for the edge of the roof.
  13. You could start a separate thread for each boat type, then keep the thread boat specific.
  14. its been a while since I had a volvo that had a distributor, most just have 1 coil per cylinder now (or 1 per 2 cylinders) and the rest is done electronically
  15. I think (looking at martins figures) that the problem is that co is lighter than oxygen, but not lighter than the nitrogen in the air, since the nitrogen makes up the bulk of the air (78%), and since it and the co are the same weight, it doesnt rise comparative to most of the atmosphere, but builds up at the higher elevations (or more to the point the oxygen sinks down to be just above the carbon dioxide) without air circulation (ventilation) therefore the co builds up in the nitrogen and displaces the oxygen we need. on convection alone if the co levels are increasing, then it wont flow out of the ceiling vents as its mixed in with the nitrogen, but is slowly displacing the heavier oxygen. so stirring the air about will help, but the co will get you as its mixing with the nitrogen faster than it can flow though the ceiling vents. that and if the incoming air contains the co, then its not refreshing the oxygen.
  16. that was just what I found on the internet (maybe an american site) for the non overhead cam version. the big problem is working out which is cylinder 1 on the distributor, but at least if you assume then its just a case of trying each of 4 as no1.
  17. from - http://www.marinemechanic.com/volvo/volvo/aq115-130-170-spec1.htm
  18. looks like it may be pre 1909 as it doesnt have the ltd on it, but definitely pre 1965 when the hibernia factory shut
  19. adjustment is easy, to back off the blade a sharp rap on the back end of the plane, a tap on the wedge to advance the blade.
  20. hibernia on the blade, sheffield on the frog
