  1. i just had to go search, and yes it was, ah how early memories stick with us.
  2. isnt that the theme tune to listen with mother?
  3. I dont know, that would be a question for the broads authority, I am sure they have the figures
  4. as was my comment, moderators are allowed to have fun too
  5. finding a mooring where you want, put it this way, have a plan B and a plan c , the popular moorings frequently fill up quickly, and even if you have only just set sail, if there is a mooring at horning staithe, you have to go for it, as it may be the only time you manage it. hookups at broads authority moorings take a card, these cost around £1 (been a while since i bought one) and can be obtained at the broads authority HQ, some shops have them, and the rangers have them if you see them, the BA office at ranworth has them too. (i am sure others will chip in with other places they can be obtained. pubs with hookup, you will probably have to go in to pay, some pubs charge for moorings too. oulton broad and beccles have their own systems, beccles has different cards, oulton broad you pay more to use the hookup
  6. unfortunately as a moderator, I have to keep an eye on you lot Fred, how many of us found novel and different ways to get to the pub when in our younger years, from some of the tales, - I think most of us. as you say, they are just trying to enjoy themselves.
  7. it was my observation that the local youth population had found a new way to get to the pub at the common, by paddle boarding canoeing, and swimming to the pub from the locks seemingly in their droves, one could imagine this makes the carrying of age related identification somewhat tricky (well money is now plastic so that can survive the occasional immersion.) anyway there was a non stop stream of various craft launching from both the locks and the weir, it was lovely to see the youngsters actually getting out and being active rather than just sitting with phone glued to hand.
  8. helen, you could easily do the bridge broad as its literally only 5 minutes (or less) from hoveton viaduct, so an easy trip if Seren started showing signs of needing a comfort break.
  9. i always try and avoid the viaduct moorings and go onto bridge broad and mudweight there in one of the bays given the option, I have a favorite bay round the corner, but even when I was there last there was quite a bit of marine vegetation on the bottom.

    Mobile Wifi

I had that problem when ordering the huawei one, some of the pictures showed the antenna socket, but the fine print said not with external antenna sockets, but i did get the one I wanted in the end, the problem is they sell the same model number with and without the sockets. so be careful and read the description.

    Mobile Wifi

just had a quick look, and for my money it seems a tad expensive for what it offers (talking just wifi internet here) My system is a fraction of the price and works adequately most places, and the places it doesnt work are places everyone struggles, one sailor at one such place had the antenna hoisted half way up his mast to get a decent signal, and any system is reliant upon the phone networks.
  12. you are giving it hot air to run with, essentially the same as running the glow plugs.
  13. it was more that the figures were wrong for US gallons, 45 litres is 9.9 imperial gallons, which is 11.9 US gallons
  14. why have they quoted the capacities in USG when they are obviously UK Gallons
  15. worse still you have to specifically find the idiots guide to scrubbing brushes. hey I think they wrote this one just for you- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Idiots-Cleaning-Lifestyle-Paperback/dp/159257856X
  16. yes we heard you had bought a lifetimes supply of cleaning products recently.
  17. mine resides on a hook, just behind the helm, i do put it on occasionally, eg if mooring at great yarmouth, or reedham.
  18. I do hope you wont be going that fast
  19. Here's my mifi and antennae, I take a couple of metal plates to mount them on too.
  20. they were external magnetic mount antennae, with about 3m of cable each, the socket that they plug into the mifi unit probably isnt waterproof, but the antennae are.
  21. I just use a huawei mifi dongle, i do have one with external antennae, as there are a couple of areas where you can lose signal at low tide on the southern rivers. so the antennae need to be placed high at those locations.
  22. it looks similar to the sludge I found in the bottom of water rails filter, I was told this may have been caused by cold weather waxing up the fuel in the filter (why you change the filter at the beginning of the year when taking the boat out of winterised mode, rather than at the beginning of the winter)
  23. more like living the dream for some of us i think
  24. well reading friends facebook comments over how easyjet and tui were cancelling flights for peoples holidays without explanation, it might all turn around and come back to holidays in the uk again this year.
  25. that would never be big enough.
