  1. The water pressure on my 31 ft boat is not good. I have taps/shower fwd and taps in the galley aft. My question is , would a better more powerful pump be the answer to increasing the pressure, and if so, what would be the best pump to install ? Any help / advice as always , appreciated.
  2. Have to disagree. The reason for cheesing down a rope is purely aesthetic. To avoid a trip hazard ropes should be coiled and hung from a guardrail or bulkhead. Few of us have boats with a deck area big enough to hide a trip hazard.
  3. I think this is an ex RN discipline as is cheesing down mooring ropes. I wouldn’t be suprised to see Griffs crew stood in line when entering and leaving his wet shed. ! Done plenty of that stuff in my time, but pleasure boating on my own boat ? ........ nah.
  4. Anyone know what’s happened to the Newark boat jumble, is it on this year ? usually early Feb but no mention anywhere.
  5. Help please. I am right in thinking that I will have to have my boat lifted to have a speed and depth log fitted ? I already have a fish finder fitted, could I not use the transducer from this to link to the depth log ? or am I being thick ? Any help suggestions and comments appreciated as always. Thanks
  6. I owned one for several years, wood topsides GRP hull, the wood maintenance became too much like hard work as mentioned on a recent post. They are very well built with quality interior wood finish. Twin engines provided more than enough power, air draft 9’6”. I have owned several boats but the Storebro Royal the best by far. Attached a pic a couple of years ago, leaving Gt Yarmouth harbour............ we weren’t out very long !
  7. Sold my beloved boat with GRP hull and wooden topsides last year, broke my heart, it had already broken my bank. Constant maintenance on the topsides, spent more time rubbing down, painting and varnishing than we did out on the river. As someone has already said, wooden topsides do look ‘ the part’ , but trust me , hard, expensive work......constantly. I now have a plastic ‘ wash n go ‘ boat , life’s much easier, but aesthetically, not in the same league. Good luck, but think very carefully about wood.
  8. Now THATS what I call an explanation !
  9. I’ve used a few 5 gallon drums of Teapol in my time, ...... think I prefer the stench of diesel
  10. dnks34. The split in the tank was at the very bottom and I had added 60 litres 2 days earlier , I have always been lucky. The diesel was confined to the Bilge’s but splashes and spills were inevitable throughout the cabin during the clean up. Thanks all for suggestions, bicarbonate of soda and cat litter make sense, along with lots of fresh air and time.
  11. Just back home from a nightmare trip on the boat. We had one of our steel diesel tanks split leaking 150 + litres into the bilge. Limped back to Brundall from WRC to begin the clean up. Damaged tank now out of the boat and diesel pumped out of the bilges, but the lingering stench of diesel is taking some shifting, we have used detergent and hot water but has anyone any other solutions or tips to get rid of the smell of diesel ? Any advice greatly appreciated as always.
  12. “ The Friendly Forum “......... Remember ?
  13. MM I’m a big fan of your posts, but I think out of order .
  14. No duck weed. Caught around the Brundall area on the Yare and further up around Wittlingham.
  15. Just back home from a week on the boat. Spent a lot of time fishing I am no expert but caught plenty of roach, perch and bream on the southern rivers. Most of the roach I caught were covered in black spots to some degree, can anyone tell me what this is ? Thanks
  16. Let’s not get carried away, I know we can only beat whoever is put in front of us, but at best Panama are a good division 2 side. I hope they give Southgate another 4 years to work with this talented squad , they have potential but have yet to play anyone decent. I think both England and Belgium will rest players on Thursday so we will not see how good we are until the knock out stages.
  17. As I said I’m not a technical person, but I like the idea of converting a normal 240v lamp. Didn’t know I could do that simply by changing the plug and bulb. I would never have thought of that. Glad I asked the question
  18. MM didn’t know I could do that ! I agree thank you. This forum winds me up on occasions, but for advice and help , it’s first class. A mini problem I have been wrestling with for a week, solved in 10 minutes on the NBN. thanks all.
  19. I m sorry I’m not very technical but I have 12v sockets and just want to be able to plug them in away from mains power.
  20. Thanks Grendel but was looking for more traditional lamps with lampshades and a warm light.
  21. I am looking to buy a couple of 12v Table Lamps, can’t find any anywhere, do they exist ? any help appreciated. Thanks
  22. Time out is I think the way to go. Same old posters, same old topics, but recently with a school play ground edge. If this forum was a football team it would be Leeds United, once great, now not. I will look in in a few months time, see if any interesting grown ups are contributing.
