  1. Cillit Bang and scotch bright. Barry Scott swears by it ....
  2. They cost very little and in my opinion all boats should carry them. They should be located away from the stern removing the possibility of injury from the props . An absolute must at sea if the boat is pitching in a swell, trying to board via the swim platform in this scenario the man overboard would be able to see the props before they chopped his feet off !!
  3. I took the RYA inland waterways helmsman course yesterday with Chris on my own boat on one of the best days weather wise of the year. We were hoping for a stiff breeze to provide a test for leaving and arriving at a mooring in wind.....calm as you like. Anyway, self taught and confident in my abilities I decided to take the course to get advice and tips and an opinion from a qualified instructor of my skills. Chris arrived on time as arranged, explained the course , what was required and off we went. I spent 10 years developing my ability to moor in a tight space, arrive and leave a mooring without problems but within a couple of hours , I had changed my thinking, understanding and approach to almost everything I did, and it all made perfect sense. I don't care how good you think you are, or how many qualifications or letters you have after your name, trust me, you never stop learning on the water, and a qualified ' third eye ' on your boat underway is a great way to pick up valuable advice and tips. I can highly recommend this course to all abilities, Chris is a likeable young man with a wealth of boating knowledge. PS .......... I passed !
  4. I failed the 11 plus but only just apparently, so I was invited on to the Thorn Scheme, which was a 1 day course/interview at a school miles away. Passed this and went to Grammar School only to pack it all in and join the RN at 15 ! All my school friends turned out to be doctors, lawyers, bankers earning £squillions, would I swap ? Would I ******* !
  5. A sad tale indeed, for somebody who is as passionate about the broads as you, I am truly gutted for you. As has been said, I hope this is not the end of boating for you. Hope your health problems improve soon.

    Tidy ropes

We used to call this 'Cheesing' in the mob. Must admit my pet hate is sloppy rope stowage, it can also cause big problems if a 'heap' of rope falls overboard .
  7. Whoa ! This was meant to be a light hearted post about a funny looking boat. Of course there are sad cases out there having a hard time, that's life I'm afraid, shame to inject the fact into a generally well received post. Will think long and hard before posting again.
  8. Political correctness , confuses me particularly in sport, cricket for example, when we play Australia the media and all and sundry say 'The Ausies this and The Ausies that. There is a problem apparently when we play Pakistan ?
  9. Built by the renown boat builders Bodgit & Scarper, partially double glazed, mdf & chipboard wheelhouse, leans to starboard a bit but was told a fat lass sat to port would sort this, Who needs a Broom Gin Palace when you've got a Bodgit & Scarper Cider Shed ? Living the dream....
  10. Would this have to give way to the 'sales' in the supermarket ?............I'll get mi coat.
  11. I joined a ship in the Far East in 1970 returned to the UK in 1972. I was clueless with the dosh when I returned, used to hold my hand out with all these new decimal coins allowing myself to be ripped off left right and centre ! A lot of people made a lot of dosh in that learning period.
  12. Of course I meant NBN............. How embarrassing , sorry guys !
  13. I agree, maybe encourage the landlord to become a NBF member , and help him to help himself, if he saw some of the comments and support he has on here it would at least give him a confidence boost and he could sell his trade to a 1000 potential punters ? ...........
  14. Had a look at this Fairline on Saturday, it's the size of a small house ! An awful lot of boat for the money but surely not a broads boat.
  15. Could this be the answer , lock em in when they arrive, then let em out when they return ?!!.............Simples
  16. Just joshing Tangara. Lighten up. I've been known to turn left when boarding aircraft many times, the devil in me just had to say what many readers had to be thinking. Not sure how I came to post in your post ?!! No offence intended.
  17. Springsong. Great photos. Cadilly was/ is stunning , is she still afloat?
  18. Looks a smashing little craft, hats off to any business prepared to try new things, very best wishes for your success.
  19. I have a Mikuni MY30 diesel heater in need of a service. Can anyone suggest a reliable engineer to service it please ? My boat is at Brundall. Thanks for any help.
  20. Dave, You sound like you know your onions re "trolling" but you cant seriously suggest that others not so knowledgable can't take part in a forum thread ? I do more reading than I do posting and see a diverse selection of comments and posts, some informative and helpful, others no so much, but this is a forum not an open university course. I didn't know what trolling was, but have learnt from you........ Isn't that what forums are about. ?
  21. Be a boring forum if only "experts" posted.
