  1. Oooops sorry, I was looking for the nbn..........
  2. Recently sold a boat through Boatshed Norfolk, Gary Travis nice bloke took all the hassle out of selling, arranged viewings etc. I had tried Apollo Duck, cheap decent website etc but after several time wasters and an offer of a swap for an apartment in Greece, gave the job to Gary sold within a few weeks.
  3. Thank you. What a refreshing thread with intelligent informative info.
  4. Vaughan. Fascinating topic. What does the term “ take up” mean ?
  5. Spent some time at HMS Osprey Portland, The Black Dog was always a favourite in Weymouth.
  6. Thanks for posting , never seen it before, don’t want it either. I add Soltron every time I fill up. I think unlikely to have come from suppliers ? I was told it was filtered several times by retailer.
  7. My comments about the double yellow lines were a bit flippant, apologies. however, still think it was a strange request, please keep clear of my marina so we can shoot out like a cork from a bottle ? If a few boats at the entrance to your marina are a problem to you, good luck up north in the school holidays !
  8. What a strange request, unfortunately for you your marina is situated within holding distance of the bridge, as you will be aware there is a considerable tide flow at certain times making holding position tricky, maybe you could paint double yellow lines across the marina entrance ?
  9. 19 minutes ! love it, knew someone would come up with it
  10. I always leave a couple of tube heaters and a small oil filled radiator on time switches throughout winter on my boat. I have no idea how effective they are, so my question is, how many heaters and what wattage should they be to effectively keep the temperature above freezing on a 31 foot boat ? I am hoping one of the forum ‘Boffins’ has a mathematical formula !! or at least an idea of what others do ? Thanks
  11. Hats off to you Robin, thinking of doing something similar but worried about the bridges
  12. Naga Munchetty, Fat bloke on the go compare ads, drunk louts, broken biscuits, dog mess on the footpath, junk mail, politicians, litter louts, soggy chips, fake news, arrogance, pretentiousness, bad manners, flat beer, warm beer, no beer, Rylan whatsisface, ladies that clean men’s loos, motorway service station prices, Manchester United, warts, parking attendants, February, slugs, ...............but mostly Naga Munchetty.
  13. In the same vain text abbreviations. Heard a funny tale about an old lady who’s friend text her to say that after a long illness, her elderly husband of 60 years had passed away, feeling very sympathetic and wanting to offer her sincere condolences and wanting to send lots of love she text back ‘ so sorry to hear the sad news , thinking of you, lol !!

    Tolls

It’s a 31 ft boat, not sure how much the toll is/was, don’t think it’s relevant, as I understand it, if you brought your boat to the broads on the 30th March you would still have to pay a full years toll then another full years toll a day later !! Only in Norfolk ............

Hi Keifsmate, who are EA ?

    Tolls

I was going to bring my new boat to the broads in a few weeks time, I called the Broads Authority to register and pay the toll, amazed to be told I have to pay for the full year and then again 1st April for a full year ! ? Just trying to get my head around it , I think they’re saying I have to pay for a boat I did not own, did not have on the broads , but I owe tolls from last April ? Who are these people , don’t they know they are damaging their local economy, I would be spending several bob with Broadlands businesses over the next 4/5 months will now be spent elsewhere. How do they justify this, I know they have to be funded but this really is day light robbery ........ in my opinion
  17. I know I'm going to get slaughtered for this but, I have yet to see a boat on the plane on the broads, hire boats have sewing machine engines in them, 5,6,7 knots, does it matter , if you have a problem with a few ripples, ever thought of caravaning ?
  18. Oh no , thought this p**t plied his educated rubbish on the other forum. That's me out of here.
  19. Only been to three boat jumble locations, Carlton, Newark & Norwich, the latter being the best by far, of course there is a lot of old tat, but also several reputable companies, insurance, fenders etc. Decent size and footfall too, but you do need the weather on your side ! Good luck.
  20. A level headed Gentleman. RIP
  21. I'm not having a pop but I do have to smile at ' Business class flights 'on a short haul flight. You mean the front six rows ?
  22. That's right Foggy, it usually was when he predicted gales ! My money would be on weather satellites, radar and millions of pounds of high tech monitoring equipment available to the meteorologists of today. Thanks for the name check though, Bill Foggit it was. Regards
  23. I've heard all this clap trap a million times before, berries in August, chickens busy knitting etc. There was a forecaster up here in Yorkshire called Bill Frogat or something similar, he could predict the weather by all these obscure activities , moles wearing Ugg boots, sparrows going for flu injections, you know the sort of thing, ALWAYS expect the opposite and you were very much closer.
  24. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Navy , thought I was going to meet my maker when Griff said, you go out and meet the two ships as they enter harbour....................let me know what the sea state is ?!!! ........................ different again 16 hours later, enjoyed a smooth (ish) passage down the coast to Lowestoft. Another well organised Griff production. a_bit_choppy.MOV
