  1. These thoughts of yours are getting too serious, beware of self-defenestration!
  2. Defenestration could be the order of the day soon!
  3. And we all cheer up and start smiling again!
  4. naughty, naughty! Where exactly?
  5. I’m afraid that one word wouldn’t mean very much to a newbie or someone still fairly new to boating and boating terms!
  6. I usually find that walking a short distance from the river, particularly if you can climb a bank, produces a mobile signal. Might not be strong but it’s there in most places.
  7. I have seen more than one fender ripped from a boat when leaving a mooring. Trying to drive forward with the wheel hard locked has probably led to the demise of many a fender!
  8. I’m sure no one will, particularly those of us who have been members here for a while. Sometimes the responses to posts can come across as a bit of ‘oneupmanship’, I think I just made that up to be a full word but you know what I mean I’m sure. The majority (?) of us are true leisure boaters I reckon, we go out to enjoy ourselves on the rivers and, as long as we are safe, don’t worry too much about ‘looking the part’. For those with a navy background, I can understand the need to maintain standards, as Griff said it’s a personal thing.
  9. I thought we had established that getting it right for some is not right for others? Trying to do something that is difficult, for whatever reason, is not ‘fun’. Anyway, who makes the rules as to what is ‘right’, particularly for leisure boating?
  10. It really does seem to be a case of the aerial reaching above the trees. We have had no problem at Dilham with our extended pole but Bramerton is a different matter, especially if it is extra windy!

    Thanks.

Funny things happen when your back is turned! Welcome to the full members club eddybear.
  12. It’s most probably a case of fenders being adjusted on a mooring to cope with a high tide and not being readjusted.
  13. It does depend on where you manage to moor at Bramerton, the trees can really get in the way.

    Thanks.

Seems to be a post missing all of a sudden? Very strange!

    Thanks.

    A sensitive soul obviously.
  16. Probably best to avoid Bramerton, reception can be very iffy there. How about Hardley Mill, it’s good there. No pub though.
  17. I think I’ve just realised where the expression ‘grace and favour’ comes from!
  18. Changes his avatar as often as he changes his - erm - ??? You did mean avatar Mr Nog didn’t you or has Jay taken to the air as well?
  19. So it’s not just a rumour then?
