  1. I think you mean ‘ballade’ which we have too. http://www.brianwards.co.uk/audio-tv/televisions-aerials/ballade-tv-antenna.html We have it on a long pole and have found it brilliant. Reception does seem to have improved over the last few years anyway.
  2. Not sure why I bought up the subject of grab rails in a topic about bow thrusters - apologies!
  3. Hear hear, I think that goes for quite a lot of us. I don’t even care if my boat ends up a mass of grab rails, at least I will feel safe! - that’s me trying to find the grab rail!!
  4. These are the things that the ‘experts’ amongst us don’t ever think about. The fact that we now have these little extras to help us in our old age and infirmities, mean we can continue our enjoyment of our vessels for a few more years. Why struggle (or even give up) when help is available?
  5. Hmm, I got that impression.
  6. £4 for an hour, not enough time to have a rummage through Latham’s and then visit Bridgestones!
  7. Looking forward to the next write-up Cap’n J. (How do you manage to get all these trips?)
  8. Could be interesting, Fleet Dyke is one of the popular moorings and I see the works are going on until after the late May bank holiday.
  9. Unless you can’t afford to put anything in it!
  10. I do agree with Robin here. His comments reminded me of when I was very young and I thought there was a little man who worked underground and he spent all his time in the tunnels replacing all the duff bulbs in the Cats Eyes.
  11. I thought that at first but now I’m not so sure. Take Your Pick was ‘open the box or take the money’ wasn’t it? Hughie Green definitely used the phrase (amongst others) ‘and I mean that quite sincerely folks’. They were the days of innocent television although I do believe behind the scenes all may not have been so ‘pure’!
  12. We’re heading in the right direction now -thank goodness.
  13. I can honestly say I’ve never heard of that although I’m sure it would have been on in my young days. Can you put a year to it Carole?
  14. I truly hadn’t read this thread (not being a Strictly fan) when I mentioned Muffin the Mule earlier today in Jay’s Winter Tale thread. I think M the M was only slightly earlier than Andy Pandy and Bill and Ben. I do remember my grandfather standing in front of the tv screen and sending me to bed when Dixon of Dock Green came on. He thought it wasn’t suitable viewing for an eight year old! Evenin’ all.
  15. I fear Bluebell has a lot to learn about marshman and MM!
  16. COAST - Concentration, Observation, Anticipation, Save Trouble. All needed more than ever these days.
  17. Oh dear Jay, I must be honest and say that I never really watched Captain Pugwash. When he was on tv I was deep into my career, I grew up with Muffin the Mule, Andy Pandy and Rag,Tag and Bobtail amongst others. Having googled him myself, I realise you are probably nothing like him whatsoever! I must go back to the drawing board and think this over. I’ll be back as they say.
  18. That’s very true, however it won’t inspire me I’m afraid. My bones and joints just don’t appreciate the cold and damp these days and I have to accept that . I will just have to be satisfied with the 15-20 weeks we get in between March and November and enjoy the tales of Captain Pugwash and the Nogs during the winter months.
  19. Something tells me you have become addicted Captain P! It’s good that you can share it with us, gives me an idea of what winter cruising is like. Sounds like we don’t have too long to wait for the next trip.
  20. Hi Frank, that’s a sad start. A short while ago, I saw some pictures of a boat which had had its cleat pulled out. Is was an orange colour, was that yours?
  21. Rather similar down the Old Dover Road in Canterbury where you have also got two schools and school traffic to contend with. I certainly don’t envy the people living on that road.
