  1. Mr Nog I presume you may be a tad busy at St Andrews Hall next week? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. What a great photo of Somerleyton bridge - I am sure Mr Peto would have loved it. We have a number of photos at the Museum of the Broads including a fab personal collection from the 80 plus year old ex boatbuilder volunteer. A real character with some great Broads stories to tell - I could listen to him for hours! Mrs Broadland memories does a totally fabulous job and long may she continue!!!! 3. The Wherry pumpkin!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Love that restaurant - it's soooooo good and the staff are lovely! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Morning - yacht station moorings in Norwich are good.. Prince of Wales road finishes at Foundry Bridge right next to the Yacht station - that road and the riverside complex before Foundry Bridge is the clubbing area in Norwich & there are a lot of bars and clubs plus it's v popular. If you are there Thurs to Sunday and that's you bag then moor the Foundry Bridge end. If it's not go down the other end past Pullls Ferry & as close to Bishops Bridge as you can get. There are two other pubs own there but it's quieter if that's your bag & not as close to the road. Also means you can walk into Norwich via the cathedral which is much more picturesque than Prince of Wales road. Bit further to the station. Other options are imoor at Thorpe Green if you can get under the bridges, Commissionaires Cut or Whitlingham Broad 24 hour moorings and Pootle into Norwich the following day. Enjoy and have a great trip. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. At the Museum of the Broads the volunteers have carved a Wherry into one of the pumpkins - cannot wait to see the photos! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. As a lifetime resident of our fine city I will be overjoyed when the bypass reopens properly after 18 months. I am going to avoid the NDR debate & the new slip road.. I have friends who work on the business park who again will be happy regarding the reopening. Coming from anywhere west or south of Norwich I would always recommend that route (towards Yarmouth) for anywhere on the Broads round anti-clockwise as far as Wayford Bridge & reopening the road properly is going to be great! 8. Going sober for October & not being a fan of soft drinks I appreciated my cup of tea recently with my work colleagues in a pub! There is only so much fizzy water you can drink! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. PS Jona if you like the beers the Norwich Beer Festival is on at the end of the month at St Andrews Hall! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Lovely film of a fine city. The great thing about that trip is all the snippets of the past still visible & took a few photos of old doors a few weeks ago when we made the trip to Foundry Bridge. The river looks mega high! The colours and the film are fab. Great to see some of the old coasters to! Thanks for posting & hope you had a lovely holiday. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Love that stretch - new and old together & the water taxi is such a great idea! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Have a look at the Broom Bolero if you want new - maybe a bit shorter than you are after but all on one level. As already mentioned Richardsons building new on one level cruisers but longer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Morning - looks like it can go under all the bridges which is great. It also doesn't look basic to me at all - boating is about enjoying the Broads! If you are not keen on having a shower in the same cabin as the loo there are always the onshore showers at various points. It's got a nice slide back canopy so you can enjoy the sun - fabulous. . Richardsons do a good job and I am sure you will have a great time. -no doubt there will be 100s of people who have had a great holiday on her! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Bus service good now- it serves the business park, lots of new Houses and beyond. Unsure when it stops but there is always a taxi. Yes good turning space before Bishops Bridge some great old and new bits along the River Wensum - the industry of the past meets the modern riverside developments of today! Thorpe railway bridges were around 7.5 feet on Sunday but as mentioned that changes fast. Enjoy! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Morning - Commissioners Cut has been relatively empty recently and a good spot for fishing plus you can walk to the pubs and bus stop to Norwich. Thorpe Green is lovely - it is next to a road but it's also good for fishing, bus into Norwich and a choice of pubs. You might be limited on times to arrive and leave due to the bridge heights - depends very much on the boat you have - some cannot get under at all! Have a great time - the colours on the river are fabulous at present! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Great post and the only one I knew foe certain was the one-off the River Yare near the White House! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Top left I think - the rest are all the River Yare & that one isn't? Probably wrong but worth a whirl - have a jolly day. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Beautiful boat. Good luck with the restoration & that's a lot of tins of varnish! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Congratulations - sure you will have fun with her. Don't know why but we never begrudge spending money on the boat! Enjoy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Maybe it's just me but having spent most of my life on the Broads both on boats or working when we bought our boat I had some simple requirements - access all the broads, a fridge, heating, hot and cold running water, a shower, a Diesel engine and a large cockpit. We found all of those and to me that's my ultimate for the Broads. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. I agree re 1920s & would imagine the bus is quite new. North Norfolk has always been a favourite of those from the Midlands - it maybe from somewhere like Peterborough or Leicester. I am only speculating but the eastern bit on the back maybe an advert? I know nothing however re buses! Have a jolly day all! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks very much Griff - really appreciate it & yes please if you have any more! [emoji106] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Only just seen this - fantastic - would you mind if the Museum of the Broads used the photos please on social media? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Jona - you would love it. Jenny Morgan - we were the ones going upstream near Hardley Dyke in a Seamaster Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. Saw you yesterday and gave you a wave - you have one beautiful boat! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
