  1. Mines just turned 6 and is now 180K I had my last Mondeo estate 16 years and close to 350K. Not sure this one will last as long though, it's all just a bit too fragile. And next year it's 7 years old and qualifies for Fords scrapage scheme! It's a world gone mad.
  2. Erm..... It was never lost!!
  3. There's carpets and all sorts in there, proper posh it is. I even found seats in the back I had long forgotten ever existed. Luckily I didn't have to hoover those, they've been folded flat since I got it so were still clean
  4. Those that know me will not believe the following sentence... I washed my car today! I've had it just over three years now and this was the first time. It's indicative of the dry weather we have all enjoyed because it normally gets a decent pressure wash on the M25 at least once a week but no, not this year. Last winters salt was still clinging on and it's September. Anyway, a sick mother in law in need of tooing and frowing to JPH and the fact that wife and daughter both have low convertibles means I have had to get the sponge and bucket out. I even hoovered the inside Still at least it's done now, well till 2021 it is
  5. If there was a varnishing class going on count me in!
  6. I had that conversation last week. I couldn't remember where Smith's was in relation to AC Delco's. It seems they were further up than I thought
  7. Thats the wet shed we are talking about (I think...lol) I agree but am starting to change my mind a bit. Once upon a time there were many many boatyards with slipways and cradles which allowed wooden boats to be supported along their keels when taken out from the river. These days half the slipways are blocked off in the name of flood defences and the other half have been built on! The result is cranes with straps giving hulls a twist and a nip as they lift out and in some cases you can see the hull bend as the weight is taken on chines never intended for the purpose. Yes there are some very skilled, caring and careful operators out there but I do wonder whether, with our (normally) milder winters these days, the taking out each year unless for needed maintenance is still such a good idea?
  8. Discrete is my middle name I believe he said she had been at Belaugh for a few years and yes, she was well dry when she went in. Been exploring options for her winter storage so she can stay in and not have the same problems next season. A wet shed is a possibility, we also wondered about tenting the dyke she is in now for the worst of the weather. Wooden boats eh? Who'd 'ave 'em!
  9. Nope though I am surprised at your neighbours boat still pumping. I am with said neighbour next week, the opportunity to take the proverbial will be exercised to its full extent! My leaky accomodation was MQ or Monas Queen. She had a bit of a weep, long since dealt with, but a small capacity bilge pump and small bore outlet pipe made it all far more dramatic than it really was....
  10. Yikes! He'll be encouraging us to print plastic planking next, then it'll be cabin sides
  11. I have to admit MQ held the record for sheer amount of river pumped over Beccles weekend. Someone, moored next door, who shall remain nameless, arrived the following morning armed with a selection of materials to stem the flow having been kept up all night with the bilge pump firing its contents against his hull I, of course, never heard a thing
  12. Yes, some of the water is actually on the outside these days!!!
  13. Don't worry, now he has been let loose on the real thing these smaller projects are hardly a challenge anymore. If you see the old chap slacking Nigel, let us know and we will set up another DIY SOS project so he can keep his skills honed...
  14. If people think that's a bit early we can move the date a couple of weeks later?
  15. Yup, guess who? Timbo rang me this morning and said its been decided that I should get this years calendar up and running. Of course he never actually said who had decided so, if you are reading this, thanks..... I think! Its time to get the wheels in motion and pop into Boots and have all those summer films developed ready for this years selection. September is here already and we have all had some glorious times afloat this year, it seems the brown is something called suntan rather than rust! Our forum calendar is always popular, from submitting your photo's and then the picture selection process right through to being able to enjoy the finished result for the next twelve months. It also provides you, the members, with a chance to help with the running costs of the forum. As you can imagine, all forums have costs involved so, at the size and level the NBN runs at, it is important that we keep the finances coming in to ensure our ongoing success. So, lets be having your images of the Broads in all their glory. I have just browsed the picture thread (and bumped it of course) and there are some glorious pictures already. You now have just a few weeks to submit your finest! Entries will close 30th September with the voting taking place the first two weeks of October. That means a month to put it all together and print and the finish article will be out at the beginning of December. Any questions, comments etc on this thread please so we can keep the picture thread for the pictures. Cheers all
  16. Mahogany frames, 4mm ply, epoxy sheath. It'd even hold me!
  17. My choice would be the solid roof on arms but.... if it ain't easy to use you won't use it, whichever way you go with it. The solid roof could have a winch included at a later date to aid lifting whereas the canvas will always need two people.
  18. 'bout time you did some more..... anyone would think you've been busy weekends or something!
  19. Tartan had a three piece screen from new btw. I do prefer the two piece with the two piece cabin front though, much cleaner.
  20. That's got to be maiden voyage. Upper Bure somewhere. Hull colour is confusing because, if the little boy is who I think he is, I thought he said all hulls were always cream with green antifoul from new?
