  1. Wales had the highest air pressure since 1957 overnight, since high pressures generally move eastwards I would expect our highest to be in the next couple of days..
  2. The only competitive sailing going on on Sunday 15th is: Norwich Frostbites at Thorpe st Andrew, Snowflake sailing club at Horning, Rollesby Sailing club (good luck on getting Lightening up there) The following Sunday is near enough the same, except Horning Sailing club start sailing for the summer at Horning..
  3. Just seen the weather forecast, they are predicting a high air pressure deeper than anything seen in the last 50 years. This will lower the water levels considerably, if the northerly wind is not to strong. If it happens, it's likely to be followed by a fish kill when the salt water rushes to refill the broads.

    Road Works 2020

The NDR / Coltishall road road works have gone, having been there for a few days, causing chaos. The only people I saw working were those putting out the signs. I can't see any work has been done to the roundabout.

    Road Works 2020

Which contravenes this.. Rules for Drivers Approaching a Zebra cosssing is made aware of the crossing because of its black and white poles with flashing yellow beacons and zig-zag road markings. ... (Yes I know the English is awful, I just copied it..) A bit like Norwich's Cycling Zebra Crossings, no such thing according to the highway code.. Meanwhile having , gone a different way last night , I found having blocked of part of the NDR with roadworks, they've blocked of the equivalent part of the old ring road /boundary rd just outside of the ATC huts.. good planning that..

    My Day

Only saw snow in the Outer Hebridies a couple of times, didn't settle. The inner Hebridies.. The school bus going across Skye followed the snow Blower From Kyle to Uig, it was only rarely we could see out above the level of the snow. Some years later, followed a snow Blower from Dunblane to Oban, first car through in 3 days, But Oban Itself hardly any snow at all.. God created the world and all it contains... But the Hebridies ... They belong to Macbraynes..
  11. On Norwich road, just the Norwich side to of the railway Bridge there are temporary lights and a digger.. No idea why they were just setting up this morning when I went through..

  14. Entry forms for the 60th, 3 Rivers Race, 30th May-31st May 2020 are now available on the website...
  15. Bus pass. You don't get one in Norfolk until state pension age, not that it matters as we don't get any buses. I'm Amazed at the number of youngsters on here...
  16. As far as I know there isn't a specific forum for GER Modelling. only one about the real thing that was https://www.gersociety.org.uk/ RMweb, us the biggest UK model railway forum, and has a vast amount of sub groups, your layout would come under Modelling real locations . Once you start posting your layout on there you will attract those of a similar interest. For spectacular modelling have a look at this thread.. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/28293-manchester-central-clc-gn-warehouses-castlefield-viaducts/
  17. Great modelling there Vaughan.. open frame layouts take a lot of planning!!! and for anyone interested Here's a link to my rebuilding of a Model railway I inherited.. https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=38780.0
  18. It's all right for those in or near the big cities, but living as I do 20 miles from Norwich is the closest I've lived to one. Deapest Wiltshire, the Outer Hebridies, coastal Northumberland and now Coastal Norfolk. It's a 40 mile round trip to Norwich, so that's fuel, parking and a lot of time. Just to get a small item. When living in the Hebridies pre internet, everything was mail ordered at great expense and a 28 day delivery time. Even now delivery is more expensive. By buying Amazon or Ebay you are avoiding many middle men taking a cut. But what happens to the money you have saved.. you spend it.. The one thing I don't agree with is Amazons tax avoidence schemes.. You could logically extend not using Amazon to not using the big supermarkets, But do we want to go back to the early 60s where 40% of the average income was just spent on food?
  19. The reason most boats don't go through the bridge, is the hire boats have got progressively bigger. The Boats at Martham. Were the standard size of all hire boats, but are now dwarfed by most new ones. You look at the Emblem fleet and they have all been built so there is NO chance of going through Potter or Hoveton Bridges.
  20. it's been thought of before but they need international agreement, or aircraft will just refuel where it's cheapest (they already do to a lesser extent)
  21. Talking of boats, Greta Thunberg, went across the atlantic, in a sailing boat, where upon the skipper flew back and some others flew across to take over the boat. Now she's coming back, her father and a female experienced sailor flew out to add to the crew on the boat. Meanwhile her handler has been flying back and forth writing her speeches for her. In interviews where Greta hasn't got the prepared text, she hasn't a clue.. The extiction rebellion lot have some sponsorship.. Funded by people who would make a lot of money if what they wanted come true..
  22. Most modern cars and lorries have particulate filters so they are not the problem... The biggest generator of particulates is.. Public transport IE buses, they often very old. Hence the road round the bottom of the castle where all the buses sit on idle is one of the most polluted roads in Norfolk..
  23. And here it is arriving in the NEC, a North Eastern Autocar, predecessor to all those Diesel multiple units. This is a 1903 petrol- electric
  24. the big show always has something 304mm to the foot scale parked in the middle, this year its
  25. Living on the coast of NBN network land, we've Tesco 5 miles away, Sainsburys or Roys 10 miles away, the rest 20+ miles away. The travelling cost to make choices is more than the savings..
