  5. It's a tough old time but as you say you will get there. Can't say I know how you feel because obviously I don't , but what does shine through is your determination and courage. I know they say put your best foot forward but in all honesty I'm not sure I'd manage to put any foot forward so well done for the progress you've made. Hope you can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Carole

    Wedding

Very many congratulations on your anniversary. That's an awful lot of boating you've racked up Well done! Carole
  7. Yesterday while cruising on the Yare having just passed beneath the Postwick viaduct we were just coming up to a bend in the river when a speedboat came towards us round the bend travelling at a speed I couldn't begin to estimate. If any other craft had been on that side of the river a terrible accident would have ocurred, as if they hadn't hit that they would almost certainly have hit us trying to steer round it , terrifying! On a better note we paid our first visit to the ferry Inn at Surlingham last night and had a lovely evening and delicious meal,we' ll definitely be going back, all those of you who speak so well of it were absolutely right. 8. About this each year Tony starts to consult the Tides book and long range weather forecast, trying to ascertain when it will be favourable for us to make a trip to the Northern Broads. It has to be p!annd with great precision, we need p!eny of head room, so the tide has to just right for that, at a reasonable time (I don't do silly o' clock) and the weather has to be favourable as we have to take the canopy down etc., and crossing Breydon Water in the pouring rain howling wind is a definite no no, it takes such lot of strategic planning I often wonder why we bother then I remember Womak Water and I know exactly exactly why we bother!
  9. Nobody has the right to enjoy themselves at someone else's expense. Unfortunately there is a faction out there whose pleasure is the displeasure of others. Couch it in Whatever terms you like "high spirits"being only young once" it adds up to the same thing - unacceptable! And if your holiday is being marred by this type of behaviour you have every right and cause to complain and you shouldn't be condemned for doing so. There's an unfortunate trend at the moment of punishing the victim it's not right! Rant over, Carole
  10. Forgot to add the leftover cous cous if there is any can be used to bulk up a stir fry or sprinkled through a salad. Carole
  11. You will need:- Large red peppers 1 for every 2 portions 1 smallpacket lemon/coriander cous cous Mozarella cheese Olive oil Mix the couscous according to instructions on packet leave to one side Slice the peppers in half lengthways De seed being careful to leave the flesh and skin in tact Fill 3/4 full with cous cous Press thick slice of mozerella on top of cous cous Place in oven proof dish, sprinkle with olive oil, Roast in hot oven for approx' 45 minutes until peppers are tender and cheese golden These are good on their own as a supper/ lunch or as an accompaniment to fish or meat Carole
  12. So very sorry you have had to say goodbye to your dog Tim I' ve done that more times than I would have preferred and it's truly hard. The greater the pet the bigger the hole they leave behind. Hope you find it easier soon Csrole
  13. My go-tab tablet is such s pain I'm often tempted to drop it from a great height! Carole
  14. Well hopefully Gracie she's put it out of her mind for the time being She is at the moment on holiday having just arrived on an island called Boracay, where she promptly succumbed to a tummy bug. The holiday is a present from her parents for her 21st birthday. She was in Bali last week. Tummy bug aside she's having a great time. Carole
  15. Hi Andy a warm welcome from me also. Carole
  16. I've always been concerned that these public toilets that open and close automatically could malfunction and open at an inopportune moment. Imagine the mortification of my 21 year old granddaughter recently using the toilet on a train. She was wearing an all in one outfit that needed to be removed in it's entirety in order to use the toilet. There she was, virtually stark naked perched on the loo when the door suddenly opened leaving her looking down the crowded carriage and more pertinently the occupants of the carriage looking at her! A moment that will probably stay with her for life! Carole

  18. I can think of few things less funny than that having been put in just that position on more than one occasion. Oh to be out there among the sailies with a big old tub I didn't care tuppence about. The look on their faces would be even funnier methinks. Carole
  19. If anyone is brought to book you can bet it won't be the right someone. A close friend of my daughter's works in the Kensington Council offices and together with some of her colleagues was attacked on her way home by a mob last week. Carole
  20. It won't bring the dead back I know but someone should go to jail for this, do I believe it will happen? no! Where was the building inspector whose job it was to sign off this job having made sure it complied with building regs'? As far as I recall from my years in the building trade a lot of building and planning regs' were put in place as fire prevention measures. It was the building inspector's job to see that the finished article adhered to the planning permission that had been granted. Maybe things have changed now. It's a long time since I was involved in that sort of thing. Carole
  21. what's he betting in the wake of the tower block fire when called upon to answer questions about culpability some spokesperson will stand up there spouting "we shall learn lessons" Really? that'll be a first then! Carole
  22. If its anything like mine ,it does as it p!eases regardless of what you set it to do mine is Android I had a smart phone that was the same , I dumped it after 6 months of being made to feel an idiot. Carole
  23. Thanks guys, I should!d be o.k, for the few days ad I'm going home and will not have to use this horrible wilful tablet Carole
  24. This was not the only time I found myself at odds with the RSPCA. An old school friend of mine married a farmer. One day while out riding we went to field that was lying farrow and therefore usually unlikely to be visited for very long time. There she found a large dog tethered to a stake that had been driven into the ground. There was no knowing how long it had been there but it was high Summer and hadn't rained for some time. The dog was pretty wild and neither if us wanted to go near it. We phoned the RSPCA immediately explaining that the dog was very distressed and needed expert handling. 5 hours and numerous calls later still no one. Phoned yet again saying if no one arrived in the next half hour I would phone the press and report the matter. They came 10 minutes later. We never found what happened to the dog, we were never able to get any further information. Carole
  25. We used to have a pet shop and we had a large floor standing model with a money box collecting for the RSPCA, it used to get quite a large sum of money as little kids loved to feed it with parents' loose change . one day a very "up herself" RSPCA woman came and announced the society was withdrawing the dog because we so!d kittens! That we bought them from people who didn't want them probably saving them from being drowned at birth or that we were very careful who we sold them to didn't matter. Carole
