  1. Hi Oceandawn. Why not have a word with these people. http://www.broadlandyachtbrokers.co.uk/about-us Pam (and Tim) Waters have been expanding their business and can probably give you a really good deal. Tim Waters is better known for BSS examination. They usually have a small stand at the Horning Boat Show. Should you want to go down the big broker route I cannot recommend NYA highly enough for their excellent service. As for the broker at st olaves.........barge pole comes to mind. Colin
  2. I don't blame you. We are not going anywhere today either. I was hoping too get some work done but going to stay in and watch the wood burner . Sausages, onions, roasties, yorkies with veggies and loads of gravy for tonight's meal. Have a good time anyway. Colin
  3. Hi Steve. Glad to hear The Buck is back on form. It's had quite a rocky ride the last couple of years. Pity The Rushcutters are getting a bit pushy over ordering food. I would have left too. If you looked out of the bay window of The Buck just to the right and opposite the church are our two boats moored side by side. Have a safe trip back to Brundall. It will be interesting with this easterly and light snow. Colin
  4. Hi Robin, that looks a really nice boat and well cared for. You won't need such a large crew for the delivery trip. I'm sure if there was a report for the boat it will be full of all the usual 'get out' clauses. The last one I read had one in almost every paragraph What it missed was the rudder was going to fall off. Are you going to rename this one too. How about 'Indulgence'. Colin
  5. Hi John. I must agree with Robin about the mppt controller and the Amazon one looks good value. If a rigid panel is an option then have a look here. http://www.bimblesolar.com They have a good range of panels and you could get more watts for your £ You could ask for a price with an upgrade to mppt. Colin
  6. Hi Richard (Ricardo), glad to see your still with us, even if only posting occasionally. I only started to catchup on this thread late last night. I decided not to post as having downed a bottle of Pinot Noir. I'm still not going to comment on as what happened last night as it had nothing to do with encouraging Richard to stay with us. I'm now going to make the best of what's left of a beautiful sunny day in Norfolk. I might even sit outside and have a beer. Colin p.s. I have not re read this so if there are any mistakes
  7. I hope Grendel's R/C for model BA isn't the same frequency as Robin's remote Colin
  8. Hi Rich, why not just mothball your membership for a while. I don't do Facebook so will have to catch you on the water. Never had a problem with any of your posts on here, if you don't like some of the trolls then there is always the . Be sorry to see you go, us liveaboards need you here to help fight our corner. Seriously mate, your decision. Stay warm and safe. Colin
  9. Reedham bridge will probably be safe for a while. The sugar factory were looking at cane being brought by boat at one time but I think that idea has been dropped. Bridge operational reliability no doubt a factor, although access for ships to bring large plant would be desirable. Trowse bridge I think is only a matter of time. I can't ever remember seeing it open. Somerlayton bridge we have only passed under a few times. Any closure or further restriction of opening here would effectively cutoff a huge section of the Broads for a lot of craft. Any attempt to close or further restrict opening of any bridge is unacceptable. Personally, I can get our boats under all these bridges. We only require 8ft to clear but I'm more than willing to standup and be counted to keep these bridges operational. Colin
  10. Makes a great slow cooker too. Last two nights have been a pot of beef casserole. Colin
  11. Just cleared a bit and it started snowing again. Plenty of fuel onboard and not going anywhere. Note to self: Must polish fire Colin
  12. Woke up to a slight dusting this am. and now it's just started snowing again. Colin
  13. Hi Robin, looks like you don't have too many problems to solve. NYA will def see you right. Bought our first boat through them and we didn't have a survey done but she came with a folder full of work sheets and receipts. I thought you had checked your fire extinguishers, forgot to mention Tims Fire Service background. Hope you get out on the river soon( while there is still room to moor at Bramerton). Colin
  14. Seems to be in a time warp! I tried last night and it was giving a daylight image. When trying to control it nothing seemed to respond and it said I had unlimited use. Not the end of the world, I'll have to watch Barnes instead. Colin
  15. Cannot believe how many cars coming past here will snow all over the bonnet. and whats wrong with the Wherry Hotel webcam. All I get is a night scene? Colin
  16. Thorpe river green from our boat.
  17. Is this one of their rules they don't tell us about. Last year my neighbour paid the toll on his dinghy early but then decided to scrap it. The BA refunded the toll as he scraped it before the 1st of April. I do wonder if there are any other little known rules out there! Colin
  18. This is not a recipe but my version of an easy roast with limited oven temp. First stop, sliced beef or pork etc off deli ( get them to slice it as you like, not wafer thin) . Raid the freezer for some ready roasted spuds (enough for at least 2) Pack of Aldi's (or whoever ) Yorkshire Puddings Add fresh veg (not frozen) Stuff frozen goodies into boat fridge freezer compartment. After a nice restful trip moor up and open the wine (or beer) Make gravy add to dish with meat, put in oven, place spuds on tin and put in oven. Prep veg as necessary, carrots, peas, broccoli, parsnip etc and leave in steamer on top ready to cook. Sit down and have another glass. When oven contents nearly done start veggies. When veggies nearly done toss frozen yorkies onto top shelf for 2 or 3mins to crisp up. Excess yorkies can be eaten later with what ever you fancy. I always do too many. Or Just go to the pub and get someone else to do all the work while you have a few beers Colin p.s. this is my version as Ruth doesn't cook.
  19. Spam for tea then. like to see a pic of your model. Colin
  20. Hi Robin, just read the spec on the Victron unit you are fitting. Well impressed with what you can do with it. We wouldn't need such a high output ourselves or could I justify the cost. Both our boats have Victron Centaur 30A chargers. One of which has been running for nearly 10 years. Lady Linda also has the Victron fet charge splitter (I have my fingers crossed). She will also have a 260w solar panel into an mppt charge controller for when at St Olaves where we haven't a mains supply. Hope all goes well at the weekend and Tim back on form. Please give him our regards and tell him I can get him a big discount at our Chiropractor should he need one. Colin
  21. Robin, your first Amazon listing is the same item as in my eBay listing, different supplier. Amazon are cheaper for small quantities but I bought 6. Anyway, Tim was happy with the Commander Edge extinguishers. I do wonder if the Lloyds rating is something for offshore boat in sewer ants Colin
  22. Robin, have a look here, if you haven't already ordered your extinguishers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIRE-EXTINGUISHERS-for-Protection-in-the-Car-Caravan-Taxi-Workplace-Office-Cheap-/151385379327?var=&hash=item233f4591ff:m:mbNKmZqlfz6ng40P3OSBQBw If you order more than one the price drops very quickly and postage is FREE We have 3x 2Kg ones on both our boats and no prob with BSS. Lloyds approved too. Colin
  23. I can highly recommend Tim Waters. He will be thorough but fair and will tell you the best way to put things right. I have put about ten boats through BSS here on Thorpe Island, some required a lot of things doing but Tim clearly explained what neede to be done for the retest. I would not worry about completing all this within 28days. I think 'work in progress' can be applied while on your home mooring. Lady Linda spent from April to July on the river at Richardsons waiting to get into Moonfleet for work and had no river toll, BSS or insurance until the work was done. When we brought her round in August we got as far as the Berney Arms before we saw a ranger. Very best of luck for the test. Colin
  24. Don't worry Robin, Indy will only fail on stupid little things if any at all. I'm sure you've been through the manual. You can have as many fire extinguishers as you like as long as you meet the mini quantity and combined rating. Had one boat ( not mine) fail with the wrong BS rated fire blanket. Fuel sight gauges may need some protection or modification. Colin
