  1. I haven’t been in there for ages, but I remembered you mentioning in one of your tales that Somerlayton is a favourite mooring. See I do pay attention. (Sometimes.)
  2. How about The Duke's Head Somerlayton? Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  3. Ooh! Thanks for posting! We also spotted a certain someone going upstream on Moonlight Shadow just before we got to Langley Dyke. We are kicking ourselves that we didnt take a photo...too busy waving! I did get slightly alarmed when I turned into Langley Dyke at the sight of two other boats making their way toward me. No problems though, just took things slowly. [emoji106] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  4. Had a super time this afternoon taking Water Rail up to Geldeston. Now moored in the dyke that leads to the boatyard.[emoji16] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  5. Thanks for posting Malcolm, lovely photos as always. Loved the dawn photos in particular. Where is that view from the final drone shot?
  6. Might be topic drift Marshman, but very interesting nevertheless. This history of the Broads does enrich the forum’s threads, so thanks.
  7. Not at all. I didn't spot the name when we were passing her so searched on google for ‘Wherry’ and ‘Ludham’ before posting my tale. Are there two wherrys band in Ludham, or was google just misleading me? Great to see a Wherry on the river.
  8. Watch this space , as tomorrow we are off on another Broads (but not Moonlight Shadow) jaunt for the extended weekend. Dave (JanetAnne) is letting us use his wooden cruiser ‘Water Rail’. Isn’t that super kind! I must admit to be amused at his reply to my enquiry as to which boatyard we should aim for tomorrow...she’s moored at the end of a friend’s garden. Keep an eye out for us if are out this weekend on the south side! Helen
  9. Ooh! Rush hour in Potter H! Thanks for posting. like the t-shirt!
  10. That’s a bit convoluted Jay, although it does make perfect sense. Is that a record for the most suggestions in a post? (Watch this thread to see if he can outdo himself.)
  11. Ooh, a busy Meadow Dyke, that was unlucky, we usually find it fairly peaceful. Good call not going down Waxham Cut, we tried that a few years back on a rowing dinghy and soon gave up. What happened to the wild mooring on Womack Dyke? I could swear to it, but I got the impression a couple of weeks back that the same boat was on it most of the week.
  12. Surely it only applies to the moorings owned by the publican, not the BA moorings that are in good nick. Cross fingers...if there no mooring available at Berney Arms moorings I would have thought that would be more than a bit of an issue when Breydon Water is closed.
  13. Ah, Deep Go Dyke. One of my favourite moorings. Enjoy!
  14. Very good news that Marthams are so busy. I did spot some of their boats on the rivers when we were there week before last. More than usual that is. The additional precautions are causing extra work, but the boat yards must be so relieved to be able to open again.
  15. Great to hear that you are back on the rivers again Grendel. Have a good time. Hope the weather is kind to you. Are you planning to stay up north? We will hopefully be on Water Rail down south from Friday to Monday, thanks to Dave’s generosity.
  16. Good news, but had I not bought into a syndicate I would still be looking for a boat that could get under Wroxham and Beccles bridges. All the boats we hired were chosen with that in mind. I’m mystified why anyone would choose a boat that cuts you off from some of the most delightful stretches of the rivers. Maybe I shouldn’t be...keeps those stretches quiet for the rest of us.
  17. I didn’t see any ‘attitude’. The most important thing is to moor up safely. How can anyone take issue with that? Running engines when on a mooring, well, that’s a different matter. Grrr.
  18. I got the impression they had been buying older boats and sprucing them up...rather well it seems, if the pictures of the boats they are selling off are accurate.
  19. I wasn’t that impressed with my crab at the Nelson Head, Horsey, last year. Although fresh, it was the smallest crab I’ve ever had, hot potato with it, rather than potato salad and a not very inspiring side salad. I should add that most other meals I’ve had at the Nelson Head have been good, and the meals the rest of my family ordered were enjoyed.
  20. Crowdfunding the money doesn’t sound like a sound investment. Or am I being a bit cynical?
  21. Well it’s a shame your holiday was curtailed, but thank goodness you and your friend are okay. Hopefully, you’ll be able to get back to Nyx before too long.
  22. Yes, so sad about Dylan. He looked such a lovely dog, as does the Minimal List’s George.
  23. Upton Dyke is lovely, as is The White Horse in the village. A community owned pub, well worth supporting. Good food too, and very reasonably priced.
  24. Lovely tales, thanks. Hint about the photos. Once you’ve uploaded them you can insert them one by one. Click (or select) the place that you want to insert your photo then click on the photo. Works for me, but then I generally use my laptop when posting photos so that I can access photos taken from my camera as well as my phone. Must admit I haven’t tried posting from my phone or tablet.
