  1. Bless em! you need to write a book on all these wonderful stories Vaughan
  2. And the bridge is special, its a major part of Broads history, its medieval and needs to be preserved. I accept we cant go through in our boat. We can always hire a day boat to see what is beyond it.
  3. Warm welcome to the forum Tina! Will look forward to hearing about your adventures
  4. Apparently 90% of the pipework and electricals are hooked up. Prop shaft connected. Its now over to JanetAnne to finish off and fire her up .... Selsie is now home and ordered a takeaway
  5. As I type, the engine is ready and about to be transplanted.
  6. Absolutely, I find it quite therapeutic
  7. But isnt that gap for passing bacon rolls through? That’s definitely the design feature that was in Chloe Jane or are sailies that different?
  8. Boats need plenty of ventilation ....
  9. Hopefully next year we can make a firm plan. My new screensaver. Restful and brings back memories of my favourite early morning walk last week :)
  10. Amazing week and also sat back at my desk wishing it was last week again. :(
  11. Thank you! I remember seeing Evening Shadow but wasnt sure who was on board. I need new glasses lol
  12. 20.9.19 My parents met us for lunch at the Ferry Inn on the way to handing their boat back. They have had a fantastic holiday. They last hired we think in 1993. When my father saw the photos of our trip to the Beccles Wooden Boat Show and me FaceTiming them as we crossed Breydon, dad immediately booked a holiday. They have got the Broads Bug back and I think will be booking again next year. I know they met a few forum members along the way and said everyone was so lovely and helpful. This holiday was all about introducing Lulu to boating and we are really pleased she was getting better each day. Its been a tough few weeks for us as we had to have our other dog put down and we think this probably did her and us good to be thinking about different things. Highlight was St Benets and will always now be incredibly special to me.
  13. 19.9.19 We dithered about discussing if we were going out thinking maybe Lulu needed a day off from cruising. She gets very shakey as soon as the engine starts but the advice from quite a few dog owners is to persevere and they will get used to it all, and the weather was so perfect so we headed for the moorings by Wroxham Broad. Unfortunately they were full so we turned around and came back. We were still out for nearly 3 hours and Lulu was so much better and even ate her bacon twizzler en route so we think she’s finally thinking boating is actually ok. We got a pump out and topped up with water and chilled out for the rest of the day again in the marina and cleaning the boat.
  14. 18.9.19 After a very chilly night at Thurne Dyke, as we have no heating, we decided to make our way back to the marina and have a night hooked up to shore power with our new ceramic heaters. It was a lovely cruise back and we saw Ray and his wife on the stunning Dakota. We did the madly wave thing as usual. Lulu had just settled otherwise we would have turned around and moored up for a natter. We got back and relaxed doing absolutely nothing for the rest of the day. Our new heaters were very welcome in the evening. We have both said that fitting heating in the boat is going to be a must.
  15. 17.9.19 We woke up at 6.30 and I took Lulu for a walk to the St Benets Abbey. So peaceful and the light was stunning. We just stood by the Abbey and took it all in. The pic below of Lulu will be one of those very special memories for me. We left at 900 and went up to Potter Heigham but no room to moor so turned around and moored up at the entrance to Thurne Dyke where we stayed for the rest of the day. We had lunch at the Lion. What an excellent pub. Food brilliant and Lulu was offered a bowl of water. Fantastic service and will definitely be returning. Hazelgirl and crew went past on the way to Womack. The wonders of text meant we knew they were on their way so we got ready to do the madly waving thing that us boaters seem to do! We thought we spotted a prop warmer around their boat but all was ok. Hazelgirl sent me a photo saying it was a load of white foam! Lightening moored beside us for a while. So lovely to meet more forum members. A pleasure to meet you both and Lightening is a stunning boat. Hope to see you both soon!
  16. We have literally just got home. Will text you!
  17. It is a very lovely boat. Carole very kindly showed me around it the other week.
  18. Lovely day to cross Breydon :)
  19. Thank you Ray. She’s still a bit on the scruffy side close up but she’s getting there. Great to see you too! I couldn’t hear over our engine but we did the usual mad waving thing lol. If we hadn’t had Lulu on board, we would have turned around and moored up for a natter but she had just started to settle.
  20. So sorry to hear this Carole . We had assumed you were out and about this week as we saw your boat wasn’t in the marina.
  21. No, we haven’t gone to Ranworth as we need side on moorings only with our hound. My parents were there moored at Ranworth island.
