  1. Happy Christmas everyone from myself and Selsie. Our 7 month granddaughter is celebrating her first Christmas with us so I am one very happy grandma
  2. I’m so sorry Ian.I know how you will be feeling right now :(
  3. We didn’t have a look over there but I’m fairly certain that area would have been fine. We couldn’t have got our dog on board. It was a real struggle to clamber up on the boat for us!
  4. This was the marina carpark yesterday
  5. Overall a very changing year for myself and Selsie. I became a grandmother on my 50th birthday in May. My granddaughter arrived a few mins to midnight so 2nd May from now on will be extra special. Boating highlights were being invited to the Beccles Wooden Boat Show (despite not being wooden), waking up at Stracey Arms after coming back from the show, watching the world go by Thurne Mill and a few weeks ago sitting in the sun at Potter Heigham. On the 15th July we had to very suddenly have King, one of our greyhounds put down after he collapsed. I’m still not over it. We had a bond I cannot explain. We are now empty nesters after my son moved into his own house a few weeks ago. Another period of adjusting and realising that nothing stays the same and my babies are all grown up! We are looking forward to Christmas as my granddaughter will be with us for her first Christmas. My daughter lives in Scotland. Thank goodness for FaceTime and hope that my granddaughter recognises me!
  6. Ive never understood why smoking is allowed whilst driving. It’s a distraction and a hazard, just like a phone. More so as you can’t exactly be hands free. If you dropped the cigarette I’m sure you would panic it would burn you and you would fumble around for it whilst driving.
  7. Warm welcome back and hope your wife gets well soon :)
  8. That is so kind of you.....
  9. That reminds me, I was expecting loads of stuff from Saga when I turned 50 in May but I didn’t get anything. I feel left out now :(
  10. Congratulations! I hit the big 50 this year. I hated turning 40, but from then on I don’t really mind , although the retirement age will probably keep going up so I will end up sitting behind a desk till I’m boxed
  11. What a difference in the weather compared to yesterday
  12. Warm welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase. :)
  13. To go out in winter, it’s vital we have electric posts as we have no heating on board. I thought the cards were readily available all over the place. I had better stock up!
  14. I work 8.30am to 5.30pm so by the time Ive finished work the shops are shut. I hate food shopping and tesco deliver. It frees up our weekends to go boating my elderly parents live in a village with no amenities and are always ordering online. When they get to a point where they can no longer drive, I think they will still be able to stay in their house as everything can be delivered to the door.

    My Day

Griff, I am so sorry. Our male greyhound King collapsed in July. Selsie called me at work and said i needed to come home immediately. We got him to the vet within an hour and had to make the decision then and there to let him go. It was totally devastating and a real shock. He was my baby boy, we had such a bond and I’m still not over it. My thoughts are with you and will be tomorrow. King will look after her in their dog beds in the clouds
  16. My own rule is if I don’t recognise the number I let it ring. If its that important they will leave a message and then I will try and work out if its genuine. I always google the number to see who called me. If there’s no information I still ignore the call. If googling shows up its either a scam or sales call, I block the number.
  17. We like The Ferry. Good basic pub grub. We don’t want anything fancy. We often have the carvery. Love the gravy!
  18. Now my boss has brought the office decorations to my desk for me to do. ITS NOVEMBER!!!!!
  19. Ive very reluctantly bought a new tree after Mr Rat chewed up our decs last year when it was in the loft. The new tree is still in the box and I suppose I will have to put it up mid Dec. Cant stand decorations. Bah humbug
  20. Having helped a bit with RT, Chloe Jane and working on our own boat (although not a woodie), I truly appreciate all the hard work that goes into keeping these historic beauties on the water.
  21. I love restoration threads. Thank you for the updates and looking forward to the next one :)
  22. Me too Can I pre order please!
  23. There is always tea and choccie digestives on board. :) We even have normal tea rather than some weird florally stuff I got by mistake lol
