Just in from this afternoon's dog walk... the beach is covered with seals and pups and I got this shot of a youngster suckling 🙂

It's unusual I believe but obviously it can happen... a friend's pressure cooker exploded. About £5k of damage to kitchen but luckily no one hurt although their dog is currently still too frightened to approach the kitchen, poor pooch!

If you expand the beach photo you can see quite a few of the hundreds of seals and pups we have.

We had snow on the coast at Winterton yesterday morning, just a light dusting. It got pretty close to you Ian 🙂

Double handles are a great idea, sometimes a single handle can dip the dogs head under water when you first grab and pull. I hope that just like our human life jackets there is never a serious event to prove their effectiveness but it's worth remembering the huge difference between an unforeseen dip in the summer and a man(dog) overboard on a winter night in bad weather! I don't always follow best practice, even though I know better... I guess most of us cut corners, it's only human!

That's a real shame, I guess it does depend whether or not you have specific mooring preferences or indeed requirements.

Can't advise on a particular brand Andrew but a handle over the back like a harness is ideal for fishing them out. Dogs love water (mostly, not mine) but the danger on the Broads is that in many places it's difficult to get out and dogs are prone to cold water shock and exhaustion just like us. The one I have, (it's on the boat so I can't check the make) has a piece that goes under the dog's chin.. if it gets exhausted it's nose and mouth is kept above the water.

Not getting a suitable mooring at your intended destination is part and parcel of Broads cruising surely, that's why we advise newcomers to always have a plan B and a Frey Bentos pie handy. It can of course be frustrating but it's not really fair to pick one kind of boater for complaint, it could be, hirer, owner or constant cruiser... it makes no difference really.

This is getting complicated... Tea Towels should only ever be hand washed in tea. Wine glasses go bottom up but never in a dishwasher. To avoid knife confusion we should all use plastic disposable cutlery... but that's how this whole thing started! 🍺🙂

Talking of wasted resources, last week I selected 'Paperless' in my online account with a pension provider. I always do this as I'm perfectly comfortable with digital records. They confirmed my choice within the app and by email. This morning, you guessed it, a letter arrived from them confirming that I have selected 'Paperless' 🙄
