  1. The registration is for a Mainair Gemini Flash (microlight). Registration cancelled by the Civil Aviation Authority in August 2018. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  2. We have a plough anchor and electric winch plus 18kg mudweight. The plough is held reasonably securely on the top pulley and surround. I would be reluctant to let the mudweight swing around off the same top pulley. I keep our mudweight in the anchor chain locker on the foredeck with a seperate rope to "chuck" it (see thread on mudweighting on Bargate). Hope that helps Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  3. When I was young "four footers" used to be used by Norfolk people (outside of Norwich) to describe people from Norwich. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  4. I think it was rife back in the 70s. My father was often asked (and sometimes) by usually rather large hire craft if the could moor alongside. Response was usually directly proportionate to politeness of request and demonstrated handling skills.... More hire boats about then Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  5. If you need to be fairly sure it will open you need to aim to be there by about 10.30 (depending on just how hot it is) from memory tidal range is just under 3'. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  6. We do too Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  7. I use GJW too and they came up trump's when I needed to claim within weeks of purchase. Can't fault them. I also have renewed with them twice Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  8. So might the bow cleat [emoji51]! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  9. My wife may start getting worried [emoji848] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  10. We have a depth sounder and draw just over 1m but it's the weed that I'm more concerned about.. I don't fancy having to jump in and untangle the stern drive! I'd still not overnight on the mudweight there Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  11. There is also the matter of getting it out again if too deeply embedded in mud ...... Mine weighs 18kg, typical I guess. I can barely lift it out of the anchor locker! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  12. It tends to have a significant depth of soft mud so you may well "drag". I remember one afternoon we had to reposition three times and it was only a gentle breeze. Last time we went on, last summer, the weed seemed thicker and more extensive too. Lovely and peaceful but needs care. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  13. Sorry, I need to concentrate better [emoji16] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  14. Also worth checking opening times / days before committing as some are operating reduced times and days, and indeed reduced levels of service at present. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  15. Reedham as next stopping point? Tides can be "exciting" for mooring though, but as other advice says, come in slowly and against the tide and you should be fine. A ranger should be there to assist during the day too. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  16. Many thanks. Guess I'd need 8 rungs (if there are 8), but we are south based. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  17. Surprised it went under Vauxhall bridges. Anyone have an idea of its air draft? Mine is 10'4" and I've not dared try Vauxhall! Helian Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  18. What happened to good old map reading. Since the demise of Hamiltons' I think the Broads lacks a dedicated detailed map. Yes we all have Google maps, etc but is not the same. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  19. Agreed Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  20. There is still Waterside at Bramerton and Lord Nelson and Kings Head Reedham! It's not Reedham Ferry I think Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  21. I suspect the initially applied for hours rather set the tone and thoughts (predisposition) of the committee Members. Even if subsequently modified, the damage was perhaps already done. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  22. Coldham hall? Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  23. This reminds me of when the Heathrow 3rd runway was headlines a year or so ago and the local press suggested the rerouted M25 could go under or OVER the end of the new runway..... I kid you not. Visions of jets aiming for a tunnel / under a bridge.... Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  24. We were at OBYS Saturday noon to Monday noon and Mutford rail was flying 2 red flags (can't open) most of the time. Sonerleyton was working when we passed at circa 13:15 yesterday. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  25. RYA or NYA? We are heading through Reedham later [emoji85] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
