    'slumboats'

No issues with those who live cleanly, resoectfully and lawfully on their boat, it's those that don't that I think many of us have a problem with. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app

    'slumboats'

Last autumn we did a river borne survey of the Spelthorne section of the Thames (all 12 miles I think) and it was noticeable that there were far more "problem" boats on the other (south) side than "our" bank. Maybe things are changing [emoji3525] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  3. I suspect it's more of an issue for "all electric" boats - electric cooker, water heater etc? Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  4. Likewise, I'm 60, going on 30 next Monday. Hopefully heading home to Brundall from Oulton Broad on first outing of the year that day... How time flies! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app

    'slumboats'

The report expressly mentioned a nice council owned 24 hour mooring (and adjacent "no mooring" quay heading) in Shepperton, as well as a general reference to moving up stream on both sides... Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app

    'slumboats'

Just this evening I've been advised that the slum boats on the Thames are indeed "spreading" and reports that they are now on "my" north side in Spelthorne and in Runnymede on the south, just a few miles upstream from Elmbridge..... Previously it was chiefly an Elmbridge matter in this part of the world. [emoji3525] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  7. A Norfolk one? Mine overlooked Thorpe island.... Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  8. Sounds a bit like my first mobile, a Mobura(?) Talkman back in 1986! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  9. Well Vodafone are not great at BGM or in much of Brundall area (in-laws live at Lingwood and it's not brilliant there either), if that's of any use. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  10. It was, daytime only, no overnight, and shower block closed, when I was there 3 weeks ago. Will find out later! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  11. We are at BGM too. It's lovely and peaceful. Brooms for diesel. If you need unleaded then you also need a Jerry can. Nearest is A47 brundall roundabout (expensive) or Sainsbury's Thorpe (somewhat cheaper). Heading up to check boat in the morning (but not overnight). 12. "300 year old cathedral" stated in the Hoseasons film! More like 900 years old. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  13. My council on Friday took the decision to postpone all non statutory meetings for the rest of March and review weekly thereafter, but in reality expect to be postponing for a number of months henceforth. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  14. When we moved to this small Surrey town 22 years ago we got at best about 200 to the parade and service. Yesterday I estimate there were in the region of 1200. Our Council is also hosting another, brief, service at 11.00 this morning. It seems to me that Remembrance Day services are becoming much more strongly supported and respected, and not fading away. Each generation has a duty to ensure this continues. Last year our Council planted 851 trees, to mark 100 years since Armistice, one for each member of the Borough who died in WW1. Ian
  15. There are a few, I think, around, on the middle Thames. I saw a couple last week between Staines and Sunbury. Also at least one live aboard that seems to linger around Brundall. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  16. Maybe they included Brundall based on geographic radius from Acle.....[emoji85] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  17. I watched your boat (Whitey) being relaunched at BGM last Friday lunchtime. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  18. Currently closed, expected to remain so until approx 20:00, and close again at 10:30 tomorrow. According to Someryelton bridge on vhf12 Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  19. Mine has 10'3" airdraft and lives at Brundall. I think at 12'+ you would do very well to get under Vauxhall bridges onto the northern rivers at gt Yarmouth may be a long wait for a sufficiently low tide to pass back..... Personally I prefer the southern ones anyway and in the morning will be going out for a long weekend on the Yare and Waveney. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  20. It's rather breezy down here on the Thames and our local Sunbury regatta has cancelled the racing elekent for the first time in its 142 year history due to the wind. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  21. Now there is no unleaded available riverside (at least on the south) there seems no alternative to the "the two 20l cans option". My boat has a healthy thirst necessitating frequent surriptious trips to the petrol station. Always a bit awkward seemingly putting 40l unleaded in a diesel 4x4! Mooring Advice

Is Celia Bondon still alive? My father's boat was built at Bondons in the very early 70s Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  23. Yes I wondered that too. It was still there on Saturday morning. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  24. So I observed, and that's what prompted my question to them!
  25. Called at Brooms yesterday; was told they stopped selling unleaded petrol last November. Fortunately I didn't need fuel. I don't know of any petrol availability river side on the Southern rivers now. Seems its now jerry cans or paddle. Ian
