Just gobbled up the tarts - excellent - having scored the last slot on the side at Ranworth. Great day all round. Started by meeting MauriceMynah (might not be a real name), who kindly appeared and took our ropes, then up to Potter for pump out, water, fish and chips. Exchanged pleasantries with some sailor person, who got under way straight at us just we were emerging from H Woods. Quite a windy day, so loads of fun with more sailors on the way to a pint at the Malsters. Every day should be like this

Presently moored on the island at Womack Water. It's all a bit odd, or we are very lucky. Just popped in at about 1700 on the off chance and lo and behold. We've also moored at Gaye's Staithe, Paddy 's, Sutton Staithe, that brilliant wild mooring near Wayford (hat tip to Grif or Robin), could have got in at Thurne, spurned the vacancy at Irstead, and failed at Dilham! At this rate, stern on at Ranworth will be a cinch. It has been raining a bit, mind you, so nothing's perfect. Oh, and we are flying the NBN burgee/pennant, so perhaps that's the secret.

The irritation arising from inconsiderately running engines at moorings is similar to that generated by the nearby plonker who decides to mow his lawn, cut his hedge, strim the weeds, etc with noisy machinery just when you've settled down for Sunday lunch or a nice relaxing sundowner. As with much in life, it's all about the timing ....

We ran through Horning during the regatta a couple or three years ago and were properly impressed with the organisation and the standard of sailing on the river.

To be clear, my incidents were not on the Broads, but they did involve boats.

Yes, I look forward to that. To explain my dislike of gas, I have seen several 'incidents' involving bottled gas and thus have a healthy regard for the safety aspects. I love gas as a fuel source, though!

I have a general dislike of gas on hire boats, so very happy to be hiring an all electric boat this summer.

Age/agility are a consideration as well.

How reliable/accurate are the gauge boards at the vertically challenged bridges? I ask because, thanks to https://www.barnesbrinkcraft.co.uk/webcam/ I've been keeping an eye on the one at Wroxham and have yet to see more than 6'9" and that just once, very close to low tide. The B.A. published Average High Tide clearance in summer is 7'3", presumably at the centre of any arch. I guess there may be more water feeding in right now, and the recent prevailing winds may be having an impact, plus generally low pressure, but 6" difference at different tide heights seems a bit large. Obviously, I have time on my hands!

Mmmmm, but they provide the opportunity for people to fill the gap.

The first McD in this county opened a month or few back. They swore on their ancestors' graves that litter won't be a problem. As we've not been out much, I don't know how that's working out, but traffic flow in that part of Oakham is now a bit messy.

I hope this semi-understandable pricing escalation is not taken up by the food and especially beverage outlets.
