  1. I love the photos of the Kingfisher. Well done to take those. You sounded very cosy in the apartment. Good idea this time of year. I did not realise you could walk to the reserve from the North Cove moorings, or have I got that one wrong? If so we will try in the better weather. Probably come by road though as only live not far away.
  2. I have only just received an email from Brooms to say they are hiring out until December.
  3. At least I would know you are listening.
  4. Oh dear why did we dispose of the typewriter. At least you did not have anything disappearing before your very eyes.
  5. Not surprised as most of their boats are very high and they have to negotiate that god awful Somerleyton bridge and its peculiarities, especially in extreme weather. If it is too hot it does not open, if it is too cold it does not open. You have to wait for the tide to get anywhere. Coupled with the journey down those country lanes to get there. Sort of place you have to want to go to. As has been said though, what they are going to do with them all is a mystery.
  6. These computer guys are very good and if they are retrievable they will get them and the rest of your files back for you. Dont fiddle too much until you contact someone.
  7. How true... Next week everyone will be fishing as if in the Arctic.
  8. Strangely, I like it, brightens up a dull and boring landscape. It can be very dreich on the southern rivers. Reeds more reeds and even more reeds.
  9. Looking at the top photo. I dont know about a 'Listed Building' , looks more to me like it is listing. I know it isnt just the camera's angle.
  10. Come on being married to a fisherman there is always an excuse for not catching. Too windy, too cold, too hot, too wet, fish have gone to the bottom, Otters have decimated them. You name it I have heard it. We will be fishing at some time next week, well the Royal we that is, I will be reading a book in doors in the warm. I wont mention the lack of fish being about as dont like to dampen enthusiasm when you have waited so long to go fishing.
  11. I will have a word with Clive and get to the bottom of this once and for all.
  12. Are you saying Howard that Swan Reflection does not have shore power , if so I am going to get my money refunded.
  13. Well there is now mention of a 240 shore power system on Swan Reflection but we know that it does have one. The same goes for Star Gem. I would be most miffed if I booked a boat and it said 240 v system and it did not have one. This is Swan Reflection.
  14. Well done - can I hear a tad touch of happiness coming through now. I can assure you that by the time you go home you will wonder why you had your doubts. The Broads are very addictive and once it has you in its grip then you are done for. You will be back time and time again and remember all of us bar none have learned the way you are. I know one thing there are a lot of us on here very envious of you being on the water. Make the most of every day and each other. I personally think your boat looks just the ticket for 2. You cannot beat the older type boat for design. Nowadays whoever must work for IKEA. God bless
  15. https://www.richardsonsboatingholidays.co.uk/boats/star-gem/ Looks a lovely boat. According to the details there is 240 volts on board so there should be a cable and if not , why not?
  16. I do feel that if Clive read this he would get someone to go out to them and give them extra blankets and sort out the heating.
  17. Thank you letting me know, we have Swan Reflection Sept 21 (pushed back from May this year) and I do hope the heating system is working on that one. It is such a shame that their introduction to being on a hire boat has not exactly been gripping shall we say. I agree about it being an old tired boat. You do tend to learn as you go along. I know in the past we have sat on a hire boat looking through the brochures at the time and seeing other better more suited boats and then you hire that one the next year. Or rather that happened in normal times. Roll on normal times once more. Life is passing us by rapidly and I wish like millions of others that this darn virus would clear off , pronto.
  18. Is the OP on a Swan boat then?
  19. Ring the boatyard abd ask them to bring further duvet and blankets. Who is your boatyard, most of them are very good. Can't have you cold.
  20. Where did you get that one from. Low water is not half past 1.
  21. Sorry no heels this time Gracie, I think one's imagination will have to suffice when it comes to heels. I am dangerous in a pair of flats at the best of times, couple together high heels and few glasses of wine and there you have it - disaster. Oh well someone has to be the 'boring' one.
  22. Not that it will help but I have (very romantic) thermal long johns and vests with long sleeves from Damaart together with their thermal PJs. Dont care what I look like as long as I am warm and toasty. Just bought a pair of boots from Amazon for £15 odd , can you believe it, they are waterproof and furry lined and really cosy. As long as they last the week I dont care if they fall apart afterwards. Buy some baking spuds , bung them in the oven, warms the boat and are lovely to eat with butter and cheese or a topping of your choice. Hot cuppa soups warm you through.
  23. Has the boat got 240 v hook up system already? If so the cable should be there somewhere. If not ring the boat yard and ask them to drop one off. To use a 240 volt hook up with a cable, the boat has to fitted with a 240 volt hook up system already, you cannot just buy a cable and hook up.
