  1. I dont do FB but reading previous posts here and elsewhere it does seem that the BA or whoever is in charge at the BA does not want to keep Langley Dyke as a 24 hr mooring. Has he got a boat moored down there? Wants it all private? The Landowner has always been ready to negotiate. This has been a jewel of the South for a long time and one of the reasons we hired our boat for 2024 was a visit to Langley Dyke. It has prompted us to cancel our booking.
  2. Blimey I was born in 1945 , I hope there are many more like me still around, I intend to live until I am in my 100s. So look out.
  3. We went to a certain hotel in North Norfolk and were charge £32 for two small glasses of white wine. I got the bill altered to £8 a glass but they didnt like it. Who is ever going to go back to a place to be given these extortionate prices. In Wells, Ice creams, a basic cornet not even a 99 was £3.50 , £3.50 for a cornet. No I did not buy them.
  4. I think I could count on one hand over the last two decades the number of Broads holidays that we have had that have actually had decent weather. We seem to cop the Autumn named storm each time , along with snow, fog, hail that looked like snow, windows frozen up with Jack Frost patterns on them. Oh the joys, but you cannot beat a Broads holiday. So nowt to do with the weather. I am surprised he hasn't blamed global warming or mental health which seems to be the fashion at the moment. Next thing will be blaming on non vegan boats.

  6. Having worked from the age of 15 and paid a full stamp until I left at 63 , except for 5 years when my children were small my Government pension that I receive does not even cover the bills. Some people earn as much in a day as I get in a month, if it was not for my husband I would be on the bread line, so dont talk to me about pensions. I too still think in sterling and always will do. My housekeeping in the 60s was £5 per week and that was it, there was no other money, no credit cards, yes you could get what they called HP (hire purchase) but most people went without rather than going into to debt. If I remember correctly my husbands wage was £20 a week and he had to go to London on the train to earn that. How we ever got a mortgage I dont know. I think the purchase price was £3,339. We would have liked the £3,500 house but just that small amount more, that today they would have bunged on the credit card, you just thought was a fortune to find.
  7. Not that this was anything to do with the BA but just noticed that the mooring on the bend just before you get into Beccles is now all private moored boats. It used to be a lovely mooring albeit £8 for the night but peaceful it was. Another mooring gone.
  8. More's the pity. Once whilst moored at St Bennetts we actually looked up and a drone was looking at close point into our main cabin window. Good job no one was in a state of undress at the time. Hubby was furious.
  9. Thank goodness for that. We too worry about our car when on the boat, it is only natural and we like to leave early and that can be a problem if your car is tucked away where you cannot get to it. Glad you are sorted.
  10. We never use to pay at Ranworth, Womack, Norwich, Yarmouth, Salhouse, Stokesby, New Inn Horning, The Swan Horning, Hotel Wroxham, Lord Nelson Reedham, Stracey Arms etc. All this adds considerably to a family holiday. Well we have been knocking about on the Broads for a good 26 years and we have always paid at Salhouse, Stracey Arms Norwich and Yarmouth. I cannot vouch for the pubs as do not moor at pubs. Are you speaking on long long ago.
  11. I read recently some of the laws regarding drones. Having seen drone footage I wonder at times if people realise there are awful lot of rules and regulations with regard to the using of drones. You can have a drone up to 250 grams over that you need a CAA Licence to operate it , also there is the possibility that a parish council has a total ban on using drones especially if there’s a camera fitted because they can, so before you get a drone you need to check that your not breaking any laws because once you break the data protection act you will end up in more trouble and you cannot fly above 120 metres.
  12. Just look at the last three posts - I rest my case.... What help are those posts.
  13. Well said Gracie. Someone asks a sensible question and on a forum of this standard you would expect to receive helpful replies. Just lately this forum is looking more and more like Facebook.

  15. JP would be thinking "Every Cloud".
  16. Oh the good old days. Lots of faces of 11 years ago to recognise. https://youtu.be/Icw3gaQFhec
  17. If that were so , no one would be paying to maintain the Broads.
  18. I agree Gracie. We can but hope that a bit of forethought will prevent any tragedies and someone with a bit of clout will do something about the way things are at the moment. This is the Broads not Benidorm.
  19. Bringing in Tolls for paddle boarders which does exist already but needs to be enforced will sort out a few, if you are tolled you then need insurance.
  20. Bet some were really pleased to point this out. My fault I did not look and was so pleased to see The Broad once more I thought mistakenly I would share. Thank you Gracie, DavidH, and Turnover all of the other people who did like it.
  21. Advice this morning from Hemsby Lifeboat " Weather experts predict higher-than-usual tides this weekend and wind direction that may contribute to further erosion of the Hemsby Coastline. Please beware of these conditions over the weekend, particularly during High tides, which are as follows: Friday - 08:33 & 21:20 Saturday - 0915 & 22:00 Sunday - 09:58 & 22:40 Please take extra care around the dunes and sea defences, and don't venture onto the dunes as they continue to be unstable and prone to collapse. Thank you for your attention, and please stay safe. " Photo of Wells and Blakeney
  22. I see that today and tomorrow on the North Norfolk Coast they are expecting very high tides, hence the flood gates. Will this affect the Broads? https://www.northnorfolknews.co.uk/news/23758042.flood-gates-close-across-norfolk-due-high-spring-tides/?ref=eb&nid=2399&u=c160d74be8c30ff96c1e228a4a7f5f71&date=010923
