  1. That made me laugh - and has given me an idea . I must get in touch with my solicitor regarding a codicil
  2. If you are referring to the Broads toll, the starting point is 5 sq metres - i presume therefore you ate talking of moorings ?
  3. On balance I believe the changes to be for the good. However, there is no doubt that a mistake was made in not 'phasing' its introduction.
  4. Am I allowed to mention a certain 'decision' which has affected the value of Sterling against the US Dollar, the currency which oil is priced in ?

As much as I love the Ferry Inn, I actively avoid their music sessions. Bit too noisy when I'm trying to eat and have a conversation I'm afraid.
  6. http://your.asda.com/news-and-blogs/spring-boost-for-motorists-as-we-cut-the-price-of-fuel-by-2p-per-litre?cmpid=bac-_-ghs-corp-_-national-_-Adaptly-_-March_Diesel This will start another price war - hopefully !

Traditional Folk is neither loud nor intrusive,,, the performers don't take up a load of space, and would attract a regular patronage.
  9. It's a most useful hitch, and can always be untied. It's also the 'correct' way to tie to a mooring post etc, since unlike a clove hitch which may jam under tension or when wet it can always be untied easily.
  10. So why was there a plonker of a pike angler moored in the middle of Lime kiln dyke a couple of weeks ago, why did he have FOUR rods deployed, on at each corner and why did he object so much when I quite reasonably requested he moved himself? NO , I wasn't going to move outside the channel! I didn't ask if he held two rod licences.....
  11. Who remembers tuning in to the police radios at the end of the VHF scale ? I was always told it was illegal to do so , whether this was true or not I'm not sure .
  12. By 'mooring stakes' ,do you mean pins as used on the canals? Rhond hooks are perfect for the job, as on the softer ground found on the banks of Broadland rivers their curved form means that when placed correctly any force applied by the mooring lines will tend to pull them into the ground. Mooring pins will, on the other hand pull out.
  13. By shining your spotlight 'to see what's coming' you are potentially endangering others who are relying quite properly on their well developed night vision.
  14. Bit daft to have gone that far - from either end - but it happens
  15. Well, I'd pull into the bank and drop a mud weight or put out a couple of rhond hooks. Of course, there'd be no electricity ......
  16. Were they to do so, few would buy them, since they all want halogen searchlights with a minimum of 150 watts. I'm not often on the river at night, but can remember a number of occasions when I have had the dubious benefit of a spot light shone directly at me, effectively blinding me. On one occasion I was going down Upton Dyke. Anybody who knows that narrow channel will be aware that passing another craft in broad daylight requires some care and observation.....
  17. There's a wealth of information here for any who may be unsure what to use, there are so many different suppliers out there . http://www.driverstechnology.co.uk/oils.htm The manual for your engine should also quote required ( preferred ) 'numbers and letters', which you should match to the 'letters and numbers' on the container of oil you buy. If you don't have a manual, you may well find the information on line.
