  1. I trust that these works will NOT be funded from the Navigation budget, since the Trinity Broads are not open to navigation
  2. I can't even remember being asked the way to GREAT Yarmouth whilst on the Broads ..... on the other hand ..
  3. Bobdog, Any idea why a man in his 80's might be unwilling to sign a very long lease? I'll say NO more !
  4. Can't get into owt in top row ! What's happening ?
  5. I don't tow a dingy - but I war addressing the pilots of motor boats on the Broads. I accept that at sea a long tow is correct, but it should be shortened in congested areas - the bridle method illustrated reduces almost entirely the yawing .
  6. I think both you and I have a very good idea, indeed possibly some inside information, which neither of us are entitled to share.
  7. Trouble is Carole, nobody has told them the correct way to tow a tender. See it regularly! Here's the proper way.
  8. Well **** off to sea then only joking off course
  9. I was trying to point out that it's just a little unreasonable to have a 'pop' at Parish councils and the like who have a genuine problem which is not of their making. For once, the issue is not one for which the Broads Authority is responsible, either. If anyone is at fault, I suppose it's those who voted for 'austerity '!
  10. Not if you are trying to tack a broads yacht along that reach ( the wind there always seems 'on the nose) there isn't !
  11. Perhaps you could explain why a private business should be expected to underwrite the collection of rubbish from boats with which it has no connection? Additionally, why adjoining land owners should suffer bags of rubbish being dumped in hedgerows and elsewhere on their property ?
  12. Given the number of private boats that are ridiculously overpowered.... On another forum I read a suggestion that a 24' Viking would be OK with a 25hp hung off the back, but a 40 HP would be preferable in order to cross Breydon ( actually they spelled it 'Brayden') Just how DO we deal with the private boat issue ??
  13. Engines should be governed ! As for 'crossing Breydon' , just as there are bridge pilots there could be staff stationed at GY and Berney , with boats being required to stop for the control to be switched on/off as appropriate.
  14. Infernal bloody pedestrian lights outside Roys aren't helping !
  15. Up by £6.83 on a 28' auxiliary yacht. An acceptable 3.5 % for me.
  16. ..... that is the best suggestion yet
  17. Bought my wife a vacuum cleaner for Valentine's day. She said "out of all the Valentine's day presents you've bought me, this one sucks the most." I'm Dyson with death.
  18. I have never regretted a single day of my retirement. JM is quite right - be sure to have an engaging hobby before you leave work for the last time .
  19. JM, dependent on them - or demanding of them ? That's the question !
  20. And the vast majority of users of the electric posts have no idea what they were actually intended for !
  21. 'Other' sites may boast of 'thousands of members' but how many of those are active ? It would appear that many are still counted but have absolutely NO intention of EVER contributing again. I am one such 'member' - I know I'm not alone! I find it sad that some would seek to undermine the NBN in this way .
  22. I remember it well ! However, there was a device consisting of a bracket and a spring which we used to fit on the lever. The spring kept the lever held back to disable the brakes. It was a good idea to take the spring off after the manoeuvring had been completed........
