  1. No! I'm talking about "One night stands" too
  2. Not quite what I had in mind. Perhaps if someone can think of a way to half fill one like that with sand we would be there
  3. I have a question regarding fenders. I would like 3 sausage shaped fenders that are only semi buoyant. I would like them to float but vertically and with only about a third showing above the waterline. I want these for places like Reedham when the tides are high. Do such things exist? Perhaps some sinking fenders might be good too. Your views please!
  4. I suspect that this is the issue here. My guess is that given the height of the tide, that which would normally be considered an acceptable wash was, on this occasion, higher than was comfortable for the moored craft. It was perhaps the fenders that were the problem, where even a gentle rocking would send them up onto the bank where they would achieve nothing. This would be a difficult message for the Ranger to get across. "Slow down" is a lot easier.
  5. As I've said before many times and in many places, you don't get big by being bad! You get big by giving the customer what the customer wants, when the customer wants it and how the customer likes it.
  6. I should have replied earlier and thanked you Strow for putting me right on this. Now I know.
  7. Ha! Of all the people you had to ask that of, you come up to me!! Seriously though, I'd put it in "Broads related chat" it's a good 'default' topic.
  8. They obviously did a lot of research when selecting a boat to film on the broads! They probably heard the term "traditional narrow boat" and left it at that! They almost certainly think that a "Wherry" is a major concern of a person in Surrey.
  9. Hi Lindy, and welcome. I'm sure that somebody will be able to id the boat for you, but nothing lost even if we can't.
  10. I'll give you a shout next time I'm going down to Leigh, maybe meet up for a pint and a prawn. You sound like you are quite close to them.
  11. Speedtriple, It's your imagination. It's all in your mind. You need to take a cold shower. nb. Richardsons also propose that Cold showers will be available from the new Horning site.
  12. No Clive, I wrote "PIER" pressure... get it... Pier, Jetties,,
  13. Tell me more about these please! Posts like this one might make Jason believe I'm actually going to clean my boat
  14. They're both back up. Thanks for that bit of info Strow, next time I panic I'll try to remember to include any error messages displayed.
  15. I was born in that area and cut my teeth in Old Leigh. The Crooked Billet is, I suspect, the pub that's gone up market, but there's still the Peter Boat and the Ship close by, unless they too have gone upwards or closed. I must go down there again soon if only to get some proper shrimps!
  16. This is starting to look like a cyber attack as the .org seems to be down as well
  17. It's ok Trambo, They're just pandering to pier pressure
  18. I'll be betting that it'll be too rich for my blood!
  19. The "Darwin Awards" spring to my mind on topics like this. These people obviously know that they are overcrowding the boat, otherwise they'd all get aboard at the point of hire. They know that what they are doing is wrong, yet they still do it. This is not 'ignorance' this is stupidity. How about a large sign stating that overloading the boat is an offence (if it isn't, make it one) subject to an 'on the spot' fine of say £500.
  20. Jonzo, How long were you stuck timewise?
  21. I have to go through the A11 roadworks each time I visit the Broads. To be honest, It has put less than half an hour on the trip, even on a bad day,
  22. Looking at that list of names I'm known by it's no wonder I used to suffer from schizophrenia. I'm cured now but the problem is, Where am I now I need me most?
  23. I have moved several boats of different sizes with different cars, Starting with the most recent and going back... Dinghys (various), Caravan, various trailers using a Landrover Discovery. (Noooo not all at the same time) As above but also a wooden 21ft sailing cruiser weighing about one and a half tons... Landrover 110 Defender. 17ft fishing dinghy (quite heavy and loaded up with stuff) Citroen 19BX. Dinghies.. Renault 4!!! The same 17ft fishing dinghy (quite heavy and loaded up with stuff) Renault 16. Have been towing boats trailers and caravans for 30 years now! Obviously the two landies were the best I've towed with, but even the Renault 4 did well, towing a laden 10ft dinghy from Harlow to Paignton. None of the vehicles were 'bad' at the task but the Renault 16 was probably the least good on a power to weight ratio.
  24. Not broads related I suppose, but I'd love to see a more detailed pic of Ziggy. Pretty please!
