  1. One of the questions the reporter asked people about "Lincolnshire Day" in the street was. Who was Mavis Enderby? There were many suggestions who people thought she was. In fact Mavis Enderby is a small village to the east of Horncastle in the Lincolnshire Wolds!! Maurice
  2. Ron. It was on the local news tonight. They were asking people in the street about it. Unfortunately in most cases they drew a blank! Maurice
  3. An extremely worthwhile charity. I hope you have a very lucrative day. I had occasion to use the RNLI myself many years ago! Maurice
  4. Iain. When I was a child I used to race my sister to the top of Steep Hill! But that was long ago. The thought of walking up there today is enough. Fortunately there is a small bus now. I spent "Lincolnshire Day" In Cleethorpes. The weather was lovely. Maurice
  5. Welcome from me Neil. Enjoy. Maurice
  6. Welcome from me Marjul, Maurice.

    Welcome from me Andy. Maurice
  9. Maurice. We stayed at The Gunfleet Hotel when we were on honeymoon way back in 1974. Happy memories of the place, and fantastic views. No idea what its like now though. They were filming the Onedin Line, with the late Peter Gilmour on the quay at the time...........I must be getting old!! Maurice.............The other one.
  10. I think perhaps he is running a mobile boat jumble. Might be worth flagging him down for a bargain! Maurice
  11. Interesting post Strowager. I shall have another look in daylight tomorrow. My wife, and I had our honeymoon in a hotel on the banks of the Dart. Thanks for posting the link. Maurice
  12. We recently heard a noise in our bathroom. I opened the door, and there was this grey squirrel sitting on the inside window sill eating a walnut he had brought in from the tree in the garden!! He took one look at me, and was gone. We often see him outside though. We have also had a variety of birds fly into the windows but most have survived. Looks like the Robin will stay around Martin. Maurice
  13. It may be of interest. HMS Conway broke her back while under tow in the Menia Strait Anglesey in 1953. She was destroyed by fire a few months later. It is not known how the fire started. Maurice
  14. Welcome from me Jimmy. Maurice
  15. Welcome from me Hazel Maurice
  16. Pleased at the result. Not much more to say on the matter. Except I cannot imagine for one moment what could ever have replaced the Red Duster! Maurice
  17. A lovely photo of a grand old vessel. One I never tire of seeing. Thank you for posting. Maurice

  19. Welcome Claire. I am also in Lincolnshire there seems to be several of us on this forum! who enjoy the Broads. Enjoy your new boat. Maurice
  20. I have Mariner 2hp. I have owned it for years, and it was second hand when I bought it. It chugs on for ever. I think the only thing I have ever replaced have been an occasional plug, and points. It used in both salt water, and fresh. I do flush it out in fresh water after its had salt water in it. I had a four stroke Honda on another boat, which performed very well, only problem was it was in a well, and tended to run a little hot. It was also a heavy lump to lift on, and off the yacht. Guess it depends what you prefer, and the security aspect. Maurice
  21. Hello, and welcome. I am sure you will enjoy it here. Maurice
  22. Welcome Mark. The Broads obviously made an impression! Enjoy your new boat, and the Broads Maurice
  23. The Gloriana has two 7.5KW electric motors. On Brunton propulsion.units. Full details can be found at www.AB-marine.com/node/180 It was these that failed, and led to the collision of the Gloriana with Kew Bridge. Maurice
  24. Welcome from me. I hope you have a lovely holiday. I am sure you will. Maurice
