  1. I take it the rivers are ice free? Griff
  2. Day 19 His breathing has improved slightly, had 4 x Hrs off the ventilator. He managed to sit up for 1 1/2 Hrs with the aid of a support. Had the catheter and infusion pipes changed which tired him. His temperature up slightly again - normal in these circumstances. He is communicating by winking. They have put him on Beta blockers. The blood clot size has not changed, various options open to them to deal with it. They now won’t move him until Thursday at earliest Next update due when his mobile support team visit on Sunday Griff
  3. Our Robin has just added up all the maintenance / faults costings for his Volvo XC since new - It's frightening Griff
  4. Day 18 Family support unit didn’t visit today - telephone update. Only news is magicians are going to use ultrasound to determine way ahead for the blood clot. Shaun tires easily. Not strong enough to use a keypad but can communicate with his head. Support unit are visiting tomorrow however MrsG has a bug so will have to stay away for now Griff
  5. Day 17 A good / positive day. General physical movement improved, could scratch his head with both arms, firm handshake, not as tired, he even managed a laugh. However he has a small blood clot in the pericardium close to his heart. The Docs are trying to reduce it, if it increases in size = then an open chest operation again! It’s a bit risky and would set him back. Consequently he will now stay at the specialist Heart hospital until at least Monday All in all, a positive day Griff
  6. I saw her there mysen - Such a sad end. Didn't take em long to get her in t skip Griff
  7. I’d love to be a fly on t wall seeing his dish when he reads the letter. On past performances he’ll probably ignore it and claim non receipt Griff
  8. Btw - The above is posted for info or those that feel the need Griff
  9. During ‘B.A’s restoration we lifted all the hull skin fittings higher up from the waterline (apart from the raw water engine coolant intakes obviously) Then for our sea trip to the Thames I fitted in line non return valves for the two bilge pumps. Since then we have added two float switch bilge pumps. There is no way of switching these off other than disconnecting the wiring (fuse protected) The engine raw water intakes are protected by two s/steel sea cocks 90deg handle type The exhaust has a collector flap valve chamber just inboard of the Transom. I’ve done what I can Griff
  10. Day 16 The magicians have discussed with Shauns support team they no longer need a morning update by phone which takes their valuable time plus logging details of any conversations, especially when they are due to visit in the afternoons Right, Shaun is in less pain, they are managing his levels better. On Thursday Shaun will be moved to a lung / Breathing specialist ICU. This is only 40 mins from his mobile support units home, much better for visiting. It’s not a HDU or rehabilitation centre, he’s not ready for that yet. Today he seemed happier and was smiling more. Communication each way is proving frustrating especially for Shaun (Tracheotomy) so they intend to do letters etc The Magicians are pleased and confident with his progression, he remains stable Griff
  11. There were five craft including us at the staithe Saturday 1600 - shut, no sign of life. No one to pay a mooring fee to either Just how we managed to moor up briefly without any staff to assist and a novice deck crew was ‘surprising’ Griff
  12. A mate said they were charging £25 for a single pumpout. But seeing as they shut at 1200, tis immaterial Departed for home at 1800. Home for 2130 inc a stop which is acceptable. Stack of laundry to tackle now in due course Griff
  13. Managed to dry off the upper scupper prior to entering wetshed. Girls departed at 1630. I should be away by 1745. It’s been raining on and off since we arrived Griff
  14. Day 15 More positive today, he smiled at his mobile support team! He is now moving both arms and head more. Lungs are improved. Next steps breathing on his own for 72 x Hrs before Tracheotomy can be reversed. He’s also learning how to drink, swallow and eat again. Dialysis no longer needed. He is still tired, sleepy and weak but was brighter and in a better mood / place Griff
  15. Sutton yard flooded - no pump outs. Richo’s - no pump outs till March. Will not use Simpsons as they are a rip off. Our holding tank gauge showing nearly empty so it’ll have to wait till next time. Passing How Hill Griff
  16. The rain finally stopped as we approached the Ant thank goodness. Canopy down for Ludham bridge at 7ft4”. En route for Sutton yard - pump out n diesel Griff
  17. Preparing to sail in 15 mins. Had breakfast in t hotel. Gods but not cheap, £50 for three of us. Airdraft showing 5ft6” under bridge. It’s chucking it down, need to get under Ludham bridge today, that means canopy down in heavy rain Griff
  18. This morning I offered a mooring fee to the pub - they declined it We sailed for and stayed a while at Salhouse Broad. Only us there apart from dog walkers. Then onto a berth at Hotel Wroxham. Bridge height was 5ft6” on arrival at 1410. 2245 - nearly 6ft Had dinner in t hotel, Clare (Bollysnigh) joined us. Food / service was excellent. Had to don my wellies to take Purdey for a walk as both sides of hotel flooded In five mins - lights out Griff
  19. Day 14 Shaun is now Sat more upright. He has fluid build up which they are evacuating. His temperature is falling slowly. He has had more time off the lung machine Griff
  20. This morning, the levels have receded somewhat. However the tide is on its way back in. I spoke with the Landlord last night. The pub has seven pumps constantly running inside Herewith Griff
  21. Crewed up Friday night 24th Nov after having visited Tesco’s for victuals, myself,Purdey and two girly crew. It was cold onboard so the Planar onto full chat, left on overnight at 25%. Stayed in t wetshed Saturday 25th. Water levels too high again. After a FCE we sailed for Neatishead. Visited the pub for a mini DTS. Sailed for Ranworth. 7ft at Ludham Bridge, cills underwater, had to take canopy down. Plenty of room at Ranworth. Arrived at 1545. Pub shut, no sign of life. Sailed for Horning at 1600, Nav lights on. Swan Inn, moorings flooded, Green - no room. New inn - moorings flooded. Ferry about 80ft of quay dry, remainder flooded so managed to get alongside. Pub flooded and shut Cobbled together a dinner. V short evening walk for Purdey (flooding) We are warm, safe and dry. Everyone (And I mean everyone) I have met since last night is blaming the Blessed Authority for this situation. The silting on the Lower Bure is holding the water back so it can’t ebb out sufficiently before the next incoming tide, therefore every flood tide keeps on pushing up water levels. Business, home owners, boaters all suffering alike. We head for Wroxham tomorrow. Will have to moor outside the hotel. Barnes will be full / flooded. Bridge? No chance as I need 6ft 4” Its not good I’ll get some photos tomorrow Griff
  22. Day 13 Shaun remains stable. He had an operation today to remove a 450ml blood clot, operation went well, a small procedure compared to what he has endured to date, bit of a set back for him but Docs happy. He is given an inhaler now and again to combat Mucus build up. Temp high at 38c but is better than yesterday. Yesterday he was OFF the lung machine for 30 mins, today for 45 mins. They will keep increasing this daily in an effort to train his lungs to cope on their own He’s still facing an uphill battle. His mobile support team said it was not nice seeing him in pain. He seems to be feeling a bit sorry for himself (fully understandable) Griff
  23. Day 12 No news / update today. Mobile support group visiting him tomorrow Griff
  24. Nice one Smoggy - I'm sure to do a great job for her Griff
